]I need some Info Is who here thinks this is an Okie adams axle or what? I found no marking when i got it. I have also heard of a company named zimmer who also produced axles such as these. Let me know what you think Thanks.
When Blairs Speed Shop moved the last time Okie Adams cut the shop building off at the Foundation, welded casters to it and them moved the whole thing half a mile east on Foothill Blvd to its present location. No moving permits or wide load ****, just getting it done true Okie style.
Wow, I once worked at Blair's (early '60s) and never heard that story, but the stories of Oakie still abounded, so I can believe it...He was apparently a pretty mobile guy, moved around a lot, once lived in the attic at Blair's (I found his old food plates and mattress there once, belonged to Oakie),and got the best compliment for a welder ("he could weld paper") Not sure if your axle is a genuine Oakie item, I remember the one on the former Paul Hornung/Gray Baskerville roadster that seemed to have more curve in it....but that's not to say that Oakie made them all the same, he probably didn't...
