Congrats,,,,I am sure you will do an excellent job restoring it and, like others have said, I will look forward to seeing the progress here on the HAMB. See you later this month in Bowling Green.
Excellent find! From one Willys fan to another and a former Mainer myself, congrats on the new addition and I look forward to seeing the progress as well. You have an impressive collection...I'm jealous! Funny to think that cars with such history end up in little old Maine in the back 40 somewhere. ~gabby
Wanda- Great find, im sure you and Larry will do it right. Are you guys going to Thompson this weekend? Dave.
Just awesome. It's really one of the coolest finds I have see on the HAMB. The car was perfect back then and I can't wait to see it return to it's former glory. I love the rear steelies out back with the mags up front. It's just such a pure look and don't even get me started on that pic of it's nose pointing straight up to sky........raaaaaadddd.
Wanda & Larry ...Two Great Willys Lovers...Hit us up for Info on Al's Willys back on Sunday with this : "We may have some information on this car for you. Will let you know." They were keeping it quiet as to knowing where the car was ! (Can't show your cards -someone will beat ya to it!). We were able to supply them background history, contacts for Al & crew Chief-Mike and all the original shots at the track.Trivia....It ran blank for so long..I named it the "Mystery Willys" over the mic...Al really surprised me one day, showing up all lettered and flamed .Real Crowd favorite... trick rear suspension with coil springs that had a threaded rod through the center allowing him to jack the weight from side to side.
Dave, Yes we are leaving early tomorrow morning. Stop by and say hi. We will have alot of pictures of the car with us.
hahahahaha Sorry i don't have any information on the caravan. I'm sure it's been sitting outside for awhile though
A great score to some folks who appreciate the beauty of an old g***er!! You need to bring it to the Dover and Pocono Drag Lodge reunions!!! Knew Dino had some cool pics!!! Charlie Hulsizer Organizer, Pocono drag lodge reunion
Yeah my husband did. Everyday cars that had been there for years while the willys sat outside under the eaves.
Congrats on a great find! I attended last year's Dover Reunion at Marcus Dairy. What a bunch of great guys, and cool cars! Hope to see your Mystery Willys there soon!
Wow! Pretty incredible find and I'm thrilled to hear a true Willys lover found it and not a flipper! I've gotta say that I'd still be pinching myself the next day if I found it just to make sure it wasn't a dream.
Now if we can just find THIS....Long story...I'll make it short...legendary BB/A ,36 'Dodge coupe -Hemi, (Metal body) ..Ran at Dover -Wingdale,N.Y..last seen in Bethel,Ct. Photos show it, in Stamford,Ct. before ...That owner gave up rebuild after garage fire & sold it . Rumor had it, after Ct. it went to Florida Then returned to Northeast. Owner that quit rebuild ,now in Florida AND wants it back to do it Right. <!-- / message --><!-- attachments --><FIELDSET cl***=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND> </FIELDSET>
I went out to just to look at it about 3 times today. I put a hand on it and told it that it's going to be alright now.
