Well we finally fired up the "Chicken Coupe 3 Window" for the first time since the owner pulled the motor, pushed it into the shed and joined the U S Navy back in 1960. This was one of those "I'll restore it someday" cars. Same owner for the last 50 years and he did finally get started on it. Richard did up date a few things but at least he's getting it back on the road. I guess to build a "Budget 3 window" all you have to do is buy cheap and keep it for 50 years.
This is one of the first times I've heard of an owner who put a car away that long ago and has actually put it back on the road. More power to him and hope he enjoys his old ride. The FOGGER
Sweet! I think I would have better chance at the lottery then find something like that. id I hear budget and 32 ford in the same sentence?
was it ifs in the first pictures or was ther just alot going on in that area. if it was ifs what was it off of. just woundering
The whole crossmember from a 40's Chevy was put under the frame and the radiator moved forward to make room for the 302 Jimmy.
A friend of mine just got "started" on a '34 four door he built in '57 and took off the road in '59. '56 sbc,,'37 Buick floorshift , 20 thousand mile car. Just takes some folks a little more time to get motivated I guess.
What ever you think of the "Chicken Coupe", here's where it stands now. The owner for the past 50 years is happy and driving it. I'm calling this one finished because the owner says it is.
Good for him! I am sure there were good reasons to put it off this long, but I am sure he must be happy he did not put if off any longer.
it's rare to see a car that was stored that long but finally used again by the same owner. So....is he still fired up about it? ... or ?
Tire are a means to an end. I bet these tires take him down the road in a very good manner. The end. Bill
By tires if you mean the radials, he said he enjoyed enough of the '48 Chevy front end and bias tires as a kid. As for the hood it is the same hood he and his father built in the late 50's, he shortened it 8 inches to fit the now stock location grille shell.
once you get past the first step building a 32 3 window on a budget is easy. step one: buy the body 50 years ago.
The hood is good, covers the '80s engine. That car could make a great traditional hot rod; I'd love to get my hands on it.
50 years? There is hope for some of my projects yet! Love this car, I'd like it more with the 302 Jimmy.
