REALLY wish you were closer to South Carolina. Need one to build a small 2 seater for driving around the subdivision, everyone here had 4 wheelers and golf carts, a V8-60 modified would be better. regards, DJ
I'm so glad that you are having fun, but I would love to use a 241" Dodge Hemi instead of a Ford V-8, 60 engine. Only reason is that the 241" engine is modern up to the LS- **** imho, but still way "old-school"..... And I was most impressed back in the early '90's over at the C/C Summer Nat's Show at the Du Quoin, IL when a couple of 350" V-8 Chevy powered "Boss Hoss" bikes got in the car parade! pdq67
Try www.anciennes.net It's a French site with old cars and the best chance to get parts for a French 60 HP Simca Vedette engine, they were also called Vendome or Versailles or Ford Vedette or Ford Versailles. As my French is probably as good as your Dutch please don't ask me to translate
thanks for the responses guys I am new to any kind of message board. the honest charley bikes are cool but they dont have a transmission of any kind. I am putting a 4sp moto guzzi ****** behind the engine, after all what sounds better than a flathead with straight pipes when you shift.
There are also the Beaulieu v8 and the Chambord v8 which use the "Aquilla" engine .Heads ,manifolds and pistons are the only things that swap with the v8 60 .Its extra 25hp come from bigger more swoopy exhaust logs ,a bigger more ugly carb ,centre port exhaust baffle that is cast in and a little half scallop out of the intake valve transfer area . The cast material is real good quality , more like steel than iron .Oh , and nice looneymum cyl heads .
If you need something, drop me an MP. I can try to find it, but parts for the "little brother" V8 are hard to get and usually not cheap... The web site given by Dutch Deuce is a pretty good one
well the thrust bearings wiped the out the flange on the crank but got it tig welded up and getting it machined. I confirmed that we can use the ford 60 main bearings and are searcing for bearings for the rods as they are different than ford, just trying to find somthing that will fit rods then grind crank to match. I was told ford head and intake gaskets will work, havent confirmed yet.
Head gaskets are different, different shape to combustion chamber and water p***ages along top of head. I think Bill Ross in Yakima has some knowledge & experience with these. He might have the answer on the rod brgs.
