I have a 1962 cadillac limo-fleetwood with a 390 engine that is bad, I want to know if a 429,472 or a 500 cadillac engine will bolt right in without changing motor mounts, manifolds, etc. Thanks

  8. The Cad 390 was one of the finest engines ever built. Fix it.

My 62 has a 63 390 in it, it's moved about 1.5" forward so none of the mounts work right, I had to 'fix' those as the transmission wasn't even bolted down.

  10. I could be wrong but, if you are able to locate a set of motor mounts from a 1964-65 Limousine (and thats the key) they may just work. Cadillac used the old style X-frame on the 75 series sedans in those years rather than the new perimeter frame used on the standard cars. They also used the 429/TH-400 combo, so in theory it should all be a simple straight across swap...

Thanks for the input, But I think I'm going to stick with a 390. I have found several since mine is most likely cracked.
