HI, Does anyone have pic.s of a bbc in a model A coupe? I'm looking for motor position and height? Mines a 30 coupe on 32 frame (built to 32 frame spec.s). Just trying to get some ideas on this. I see on some sites that make 32 ch***is's they put chevy mounts on the frames. But do they put the mounts in the same location for sbc as the bbc? I know on this forum people say that every setup can be different. So the frame makers must have a starting point on motor mount location be it bbc or sbc and move on from there. Thats all I'm looking for is a starting point. Thanks Ben

there is no answer to the question, mount the radiator, mount the fan, mount the water pump, mock up the block. set your pan height to the pavement and make the mounts.

    try this link: http://www.hotrodsbyglen.net/29a5.html

  4. glen is right , mock it up where you want it. you will probably need to recess the firewall

i do know a guy somewhat that has a 396 chevy in a full fendered `29 tudor. i have no details for you other than to say it's a tight fit

as for where ch***is manufacturers put the motor mounts , i believe they put them where THEY think they should be.....that may or may not work out for some builders. that's why i like to build my own motor mounts so i get the motor where I think it should be

other than street rods, im surprised you dont see more BBC in model a's. maybe its because the whole world is fascinated with small blocks, even in the muscle car world.

id run one, hell yeah! big blocks are where its at and if you can make a SBC look pretty traditional, why not a BBC?

Thanks guys, I know it's all what you like for a setup. Mine's going to be highboy style open engine compartment ect. sprintcar style headers. So I've got room between the rails to work with. Again thanks guys

If your ch***is isn't complete, consider moving the front crossmember forward a couple or three inches. It will give a little more room for the big (longer) motor. Proportions of the car are hardly changed; with a big motor out in the breeze, hardly anyone will notice.

Thanks but its already welded in. I put a short neck style water pump on and it saved me about 1.5". I think I'll have to maybe recess the firewall about 3-4 ". I don't want to flip the firewall around, like I have seen on some of the others. I like the way it looks facing forward. Thanks
