I saw a pair on Ebay, it sounded interesting so I googled it. I found a photo on G***ers Madness but no front shots. Anyone else done it?

I took a pair off of a nova I bought years ago. Looked dangerous to me, but what do I know? I'm old and want to get older. I've got a neighbor that welds on powerplants and he wont do it.

As far as a weld goes, yes if they are welded by someone that knows what he's doing they should be safe. Steering components are either forged or cast steel...that welds real nice. But even though I am a certified welder I'm not doing it.

I worked on two tri fives that had them. One set I put on for the same owner that had a long time freind and welder do them. They never failed. Have since seen 3 other tri fives with them. Its all about the person whos doing the welding. If you hadn't noticed they make the front tires track wider also.

Look what it does to the scrub radius! You'd need to use FWD wheels to get it back to normal.

I wouldn't want to set my front end up like that. The only PLUS to it is you gain some height. Everything else is working against you.
I'd get a straight axle and do it the regular way.

Ford has been welding Twin I beam axles since 1980. Rear ends are welded together. Heavy equipment uses welded spindles at ten times the gross weight of a Chevy. I fail to see the problem.
Take a look at any back axle under a front wheel drive car if you want a real scare!
