who's going to york for the nats east? i have a lite grn 40 ford. stop by and say hi. and/or who is boycotting.
I'll check it out this tear, don't know about next year, I like to check things for myself. Too many things get ruined by heresay.
This is the first year since 1987 that I will not be going. Its a "street rod" event, not just an "old car" event. Street rods are 48 and older......old cars are 30 years old and older. Like I told NSRA....change your name to NOCA (National Old Car Assn) of course that letter didnt even rate a response. Thats OK, I am heading to the LARS a week early instead. I usually drive to York and then turn around and head to the west coast.
I truly understand .Im not going ,I still cant wait till fall Hershey..................I just love all cars streetrods stckers racecars and customs . I cant believe no stockers .I love seeing history ,I even remember the first time I saw a Brewster ......
4-5-6 June This year they opened it up to anything 30 old years or older. I liked going to see street rods, plenty of shows with new cars.
We'll be there in the Toyota building and running Safety Inspection. Stop by and say HI How about a Meet 'n Greet at noon Saturday in the area between Safety In spection and the Toyota building? Anyone know if the Jerry Duncan traditional rod mini event is on again this year?
im going in my 96 e 150 ,,gonna paint the rims red,, some stick on flames ,, maybe some neon...ill fit right in...who nneds to spend there hard earned money and time on some old rusty 32 roadster
You said it vic that's another show that will be a waste of time. If I want to see corvettes, camaros, mustangs. I could stay home for that. I started going to that show because it was like going back in time nothing after 49 and you drive around and have a hotrod pull up along side of you 8 out of 10 times it was cool.
I'm going out on fri.to check it out.Not that much of a drive for me.If it sucks I won't be back any more.
I am going because of the extreme interest from new vendors. Knoxville was covered up with new vendors who had almost everything on sale. I spent two days and still didn't see all the vendors. Two thumbs up.
I am going only to put the car up for sale. I was real late in regestering and my number was 29--, down from 5000 in its hey day. I wonder if that is because we are dying off or the up to 1980?
The NSRA is allowing car that are 30 years old and older at all of there shows. A lot of member are Boycotting there shows and say they are going to cancel there membership. My self I may not make it this year, But that my own fault. Forgot to put it in my book and schedule to instruct a class for the college that week end. So who ever going, have fun. see you next year.
Traffic Warning for anyone using 222 South to get to Rt. 30 Expect construction delays and heavy traffic around Adamstown - Ephrata area
Hey No6, saw your car there this weekend, man that is a beautifully constructed car. Home or pro built? Went back to look at it a few times, nice car. Why selling it?
No6, I don't think that it's that we are dying off so much and it's probably not totally due to the 1980 cutoff, although I'm sure that impacted many a decision. I've been a lifetime member for almost 40 years. I was shocked to hear the announcement that the cutoff wud be raised. But, I wanted to see it for myself. There wasn't as many post-48 cars as I anticipated, yet I thot there was a lot for their first opportunity. There presence will only increase as the word gets out. I don't mean to bust on anyone's ride but, here's a couple gems that I saw: a red 68 Mustang with a Continental kit on the back; a black 78-80 Malibu wagon with an American flag graphic down the side; and an Isetta - an ugly ass foreign car. Personally, I don't think any of these fit in with the concept of a street rod. Toppers note about many vendors in Knoxville was interesting as the lack of vendors at York was noticable. What was once an event that was second only to the Nats in attendance is now cut almost in half, and that amount now includes the newer vehicles. This is a far cry from the first Nats East that I attended in Towson, MD! Good luck NSRA!
I drove right by the place yesterday on the way to Ford Carlisle. At one time it was a big deal for me. Not any more. It's not the year thing although I don't agree with it. I'm too poor for it now. It plain just costs too much to join NSRA and pay the entrance fee for a one day thing. I went as a spectator a few years but the majority of the cars don't interest me anymore. I did like to go to Jerry Duncan's "show in a show" for us traditionalists. I liked to go see what was new in the vendor area but that has just turned into credit card hot rodding which turns me off too. It is a long way from where it started at the Montgomery junior college campus and then Timonium and then off to York. It's just not the same hobby anymore. If I saw a 78 Monte Carlo at York, I'd probably loose my lunch.
Thanks, I built the car myself, I had a friend who does upholstry do the leather. I like the car but I figure now is the time to get the most out of it, I am building a A for my wife and I think I would like to have another straight axel vette for an investment.
WOW!! A car only has to be 30 years old!? Just 4 more years, and I'll get to bring my chopped, channeled, sectioned, lowered, and primered Aries K!! I wonder how much it'll cost me to get it pin striped
My first trip was to Timonium at about 15 yrs. I have have always liked street rods even through the VW, 4wd, muscle car and bike fazes. NSRA is for street rods and I don't think any of the paying members would have had a problem with maybe up to 54, I think you could still call that year a rod. But to jamb it down our throats just for the money has a lot of members pissed off, me included. I remember when you could not walk in the vendor area, now half of it is crafts or what ever and you can see to the end of the halls, they even had cars in to fill empty spaces. Don't get me wrong I like most cars but this is not the venue for TR6's or pintos, when you go to Goodguys or Walmart you go expecting that and I have no problem with it. This will be my last year as a member, I will not help them get any richer, after all we were the ones that made them what they are and we have no say in it. Hopefully someone else will come along.
i'm on the fence on this, they clipped me for 65 bucks,i did meet alot of old friends from back when i came in late 80's early 90's when you could still camp!! & car count was near 6,000 or more, saw alot of real nice late model stuff "ida challenger was sweet" saw some turds too pre 48 and up, my son and i had fun on friday, hearing him talk about what he liked and what i liked sometime was even funnier "he's 15 i'm 51" we didn't go today because of his football commitment but we will be there sun to try and recoup some of that money with the giveaway stuff, check out whats left in the swap area and see if we can pick off a couple of banners like the old day's, it might not be a my list of things to do next year. will see
