Okay, I know it is sometimes frowned upon, but I was looking for pickup parts. It appears a group of folks has brought back Gibbon Fibergl***, at www.gibbonfibergl***.net

Just a couple of cool pictures.

Now I just need to graft on the front of the 29 cab and I will be on my way to my dream project and of course I need to get working on the wedge frame

Fibergl*** has its place in this hobby. I use it to insulate my garage. :p

Rather than make a hotrod why not just use all fibergl*** to build a nice replica of one that looks mostly stock? It looks like a nice cab to me.

Fibergl*** definitely has its place. My dads truck will have fibergl*** parts (fenders)... but they will be swapped when steel is found. Finding steel is takes effort/patience. I think there is a difference to using whats available and "Gold Chainer" I want a hotrod/called in my order today they'll be taking it out of the mold next Thursday. Though if all you can get your hands on is fibergl*** you have to run it or sit on the sidelines.

They evidently make a "1932 CABRIOLET PICKUP" body. So like that would be a bit like a roadster pickup but with roll-up side windows that seal to the windshield frame and the top when it's up? So you've have the option of a (more or less) weatherproof ride when the weather gets ****py?

Shooter bought some of Gibbon's molds several years ago, and is doing business as Gibbon Fibergl*** Cars. For quite a while, he used Kyle Bond's old website. http://www.gibbonfibergl***.com/. Shooter's new website, is here http://www.gibbonfibergl***.net/. It's mostly under construction.

Kyle is back in business in Gibbon, NE with a new website - http://www.gibbonfibergl***.org. On his website, Kyle claims that Shooter is infringing on his copyrights. Kyle says: ". . . impostors such as "Gibbon fibergl*** cars", who are infringing on our Logo's and copyrights, and even our products, part numbers, and photographs. Beware!

Now, that's two owners and three websites claiming the Gibbon name. I have no inclination to sort it all out. I'm just p***ing on the info.

I have no knowledge about the current quality of either Shooter's or Kyle's products. I only know I built a Gibbon Viper I bought when they were in Darlington, and I had no end of problems with fit and finish.

With the price of steel cabs why would you bother, not exactly 32 roadster prices...

Dude, f everyone. It looks nice! I would have a hard time paying BIG bucks for a blown out original steel one, then replacing almost everything anyways with NEW steel patches. Keep going with it!!!

i have seen most of shooters products and all that i have seen have been 1st cl*** items! the extra cab truck is a good way for old big boys to have a truck that looks great and we can get in an out with ease. i have helped put togather a few of his cars and have had no problems with fit. i think the doors and fenders fit better than the original ones from ford (and i have built a few early steal cars) shooter seems to realy know his stuff! he has been a great guy to deal with. the little stock 34 truck cab is a real gem!

    From the Sacramento Vintage newsletter:

"Rumor has it one of these NEW, ALL STEEL,
1929 Model A EXTENDED Pickup Cabs may be on display at the L.A. Roadster Show!

We will let you know as soon as they hit our docks!
We have been keeping track of all of you that have called and emailed about these new cabs over the few months.

These should sell for right around $8500."

This IS NOT an $8500 cab! Built it from scratch using parts from Howell.

I don't have a problem with gl*** cars but have you studied the many differences in the early and late model A bodies?

The problem as I see it is the grafting a 28/29 cowl section on a 30/31 style cab,,,the body's are completely different. HRP

Just learn to wear a respirator and be prepared to cover exposed skin, unless itching doesn't bother you. Looks like a nice cab, why change it?

How much are they? Good early A cabs can be had for $2K, Spend $3K and you would have a cracker.

The original poster mentioned Gibbons Fibergl*** was introducing these cabs, then it quickly became a discussion of fibergl*** vs steel..this seems to be an ongoing concern for people. Do what you want. I believe this quote comes into play-"Some do, some don't, so what, move on".

The Gibbons 36 3 window body looks pretty good....I would build a gl*** one...Because finding a steel one is as rare as hens teeth and you can hardly ever afford it when you do....
I think Hot Turkey's car is a perfect example of gl*** VS. steel....It DONT MATTER what it is..As long as you have fun building it and driving the piss put of it, thats all that matters anyway....Hot Turkey's car doesn't look like a gl*** car...Gl*** got a bad rap from the tradition hot rodders because most guys that built a gl*** cars made them into billet machines........fibergl*** is the ONLY option for some guys.......Sorry for the rant LOL

But back to the topic on hand ..those cabs looks super nice...I have worked on some gibbons stuff before and the fit and finish was VERY good the bodys were pretty thick too...All fibergl*** cars have there quirks but the gibbons was good as any out there...I wouldnt be scared to buy a body from gibbons..

A good friend of mine has a fairly good stash of steel fenders, including some NOS. He won't run them on any of his cars in case of a collision. Not only are nice steel fenders very valuable, but in a collision, when a gl*** fender gets hit, it just goes away. A steel fender, on the other hand, will destroy anything it's bolted to.

Three more choices... I chose the Russnomore body because it was the style I wanted and it came with gl*** / door regulators. With a couple of options it was about $3300. I don't know what they get now. I also really liked the inner roof panel gl***ed in. It loooks so nice, we just painted it and there are no plans to cover it up (unless I want / need more sound deadening). See my build album if you want details. Of course I would have preferred steel... but the kinds of body mods I wanted, chop and stretch, were way out of my skill set. Let's face it... sooner or later 95 percent of builds will be done in gl*** (if the world doesn't end first). Only a certain few bodies will ever be repopped in steel, eh? Gary

In this case, if overseas means Australia / New Zealand, et all, that would not bother me ONE BIT. They are our ALLIES, remember. And just as car crazy as we are. Gary

If that's true, then bring'em in! I lived in Aussie land when I was a kid. :D I'm just not into the "made in china" label. You know what I mean?? Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

got no problem at all with fibergl***, yeah yeah steel is real and all that hoopla slang junk etc, don't hear too many weekend fishermen ******* and moaning as they p*** that new b*** tracker boat joint on the way to the lake with the 'ol FIBERGL*** boat on the trailer behind them, no their eyes pop out at all that metal flake in the finish of that fibergl***, they are everywhere around here in the yards, nothing wrong with that I guess,

after the r*t rod fiends get through cutting, chopping, butchering up all the steel bodies they can get their hands on & letting them rust away as they drive, all that's going to be left are aftermarket bodies (steel or fibergl***) i recently saw a sedan that was chopped & the roof was s***ched back on to the body with barb wire s***ches - no welds - very nice workmanship!!!$$@%%&##$ what's the point?
