My sons 33 has 40 ford drums on the front and a 10 bolt rear, it has a 15/16" GM dual master cylinder, and we can't get any brakes unless you pump the pedel, and even then it's not that good.
    Do I need to fit a 1 1/8" M/C ?

    Ok, the usual questions.

    1. Are the brakes adjusted correctly? both front and rear?

    2. How as in by what method did you bleed the brakes?

    3. Is the master cylinder specifically for manual drum brakes? I usually use the master cylinder listed for 1968 Chevrolet C 10 pickups with good results on similar setups.

Hi, Brakes are adjusted all round, if any thing, a bit tight. The M/C came from So-cal speed shop, not sure what vehicle it was made for.
He also has a so-cal pedal [5 1/2 to 1 ratio] M/C is under floor.
we bench bled the M/C then bled brakes the old fashioned way, then borrowed a air feed type bleed system [suction] and still no good
as I said the cylinder is 15/16" and some one over here has said I may need a 1 1/8" If we clamp either hose on the front the pedal seems good,

Yep with drums front and rear 15/16 s is too small , 1&1/8 would be better. BUT with the M/c under the floor you do need residiual check valves in the system ,do you have them??
