Ive got the 50 dodge. Just installed a ez-wiring kit. Eveerything is done except the turn signals and brake light. I know which wires go to the brake light, but the turn signal switch....i can't figure out at the owners manual does not show an exploded view of the switch terminals. DO you all know which positions (besides left and right) are on the switch...

You will have one wire connected to both brake lites when the switch is centered . That is the hot wire from tthe brake switch. There is another that will connect to the brakes when in turn position. That is the feed from the flasher. The other two wires will be the front turn feeds.

will an on-off-on toggle switch work as a turn signal switch?

  10. I think Andy nailed it down, pertaining to the OP's question.

39RatRod- I don't think just a toggle would work...and even it if could, it wouldn't be the best option. I understand you didn't come here to be judged but this is the internet...not a nursery. Search the term "rat rod" and you will see that your username may not net you the warmest welcome. The "spoken" majority here frown upon the term. Some don't care one way or the other, and some prefer it as a way of life. Just make sure everything you build is quality first and you won't have a problem. I would like to wish you a warm welcome and would like to invite you to introduce yourself in the New Member section found here:

I just finished turn signals on my '41 ford truck friday. Hope this helps. Yellow is left rear turn AND brake. Green is r-rear turn AND brake. Light blue is left front turn and dark blue is right front turn. Brown is from flasher and purple is power to flasher. Flasher has to go through turn signal switch first before going to lights. Other wise brake lights will drown out blinkers. The switch cancels so you don't drown out the turn signal, but still have brake light on the other side.

My Track T is far from a Rat Rod but it does have an on/off/on toggle for a turn signal switch. Has worked just fine for 15 years' thank you very much.
