After seeing my buddies 303 olds fire up for the first time last week , I got really jealous and had to try to fire mine. What do you know first try!!!. Talk about motivation to finish this thing . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdu72_ufV5o
That's the way they should be started! One or two crank revs and BANG! Nice job of setting the timing. Worst thing you can do on a new engine is to keep cranking it. Just a couple of observations / suggestions as a friendly observer - not meant to be a criticism: 1. Uncork the headers so it can breathe next time. 2. When a fresh engine is first started, it should immediately be run at 2000-2400 RPMs for about 20 minutes to properly break in the cam. 3. By starting it, any break-in lube on the cam lobes has probably been squeezed off, so it won't help the break-in next time you go to start it.
