Okay, I am on my first custom project, and I am getting close to being ready for the interior. I have to plan ahead financially. I am not well-heeled. How much should I expect to pay to have a custom interior done? High quality vinyl would be fine. Will need carpeting and headliner, too. This would be over good sound seat bases and floorboard, including the upholstery on the door panels. (front and rear seats). Anybody got a guess? Thanks
My buddy just spent 3500 on the interior for a 40 something Pontiac tudor that is fairly simple and straight forward but hell for nice. Way too many variables involved for anyone except a trimmer to give an accurate guess.
wish you could make it to TJ! TJ Tuck 'n Roll! but look for loop holes, like find a carpet kit, do a simple but nice headliner and go ape crazy on what really matters, seats etc....
Yeah pre-formed carpet kits are pretty nice, I've got one in my car. It was a bunch cheaper then having a custom carpet made. If you aren't plating everything and getting a driver quality tuck and roll job on two seats, and five panels (if you make the panels), you can probably sneak in under four grand. The Trim shop doing the work will make for differences in price obviously. FWIW, J & F upholstery (off of troy) did my car, and it came out pretty well. I'm not sure how close you are to Indy, but if you wanna check out their work I'll be at GGindy.
Talk to the local used car dealers and find out who they use. Here in LA we have such a wholesale shop -Garza in La Puente- and You should be able to get everything done for under $1000. Garza's delivers quality on par with shops that charge 3 times as much....
Dang, 1K? I'm going to do mine myself and I'll likely have more than that in mine. The headliner material I wanted cost $200 itself. P.S. I have no idea what I'm doing and I have no experience but all the better, I have a buddy that does!!
if your up for a drive and want to save a bit of cash come to nashville. i did a lot of calling around for prices on my interior and the norm was 3-4 grand. but i looked in the less likely places like a shop that built donks. they did , carpet, headliner, console, seats, all the panels, visors for about 1700 all installed. i had looked at what they had did in some donks and it was good work. i am happy with it. the turn around was a little over a month and they left hand prints all over the inside but at that price i didnt complain. the name of the shop is kustom trimz and think they have postings on graigslist nashville tn.
Hey, thanks guys. You have given me some good ideas and now I know about how long it is going to take to save up enough money. The H.A.M.B. has the best people. Bret
I used EZBoyRod.com You buy the kit, it's fit for your year and model and stretch it yourself. I have no expierence and it was easy. I also did the p****s myself. I think altogether I spent $600 on carpet and front and rear seats including rebuilding the foam. Use the search function, they should be on here, they might even be alliance vendors.
I'm in the same boat with my Galaxie right now. I've been checking around with local upholstery shops in my area of VA. I need seats, headliner, carpet and door panels. I'm getting white vinyl tuck and roll with a yet to be determined colored piping and custom door panels to match. Every shop I have been to locally has quoted me about $2500. But this includes seat spring repair, painting and Dynamat for heat/sound deadening. Guess it really just has to do with what part of the country you live and how many shops there are in your town (compe***ion).
