cant sand due to arm injury getting a wild idea to weld a set of tailights in my m 1953 chev any ideas ?? want something radical, got a 1956 chev front bumper on the back old and lazy dont want tons of metalwork but willing to try if it will get the look I see they have packard lens listed in sled parts books , are they hard to make a mounting? or are they just plain too big to use on a car?? I got lots of repair work to the body so what is some more and I have only fineshed 1 quarter so far car may kill me yet, the arm socket is all gone, but the pain is over due to modern chemicals and DRUGS, thanks VA
I am running 1954 housings with double bulbs and aftermarket lenses red on both top and bottom like the ones kool ride sells but in my warped mind want something more where do they get the ones like for a 56 chev with the white insert,????? doont seem to find them very much anymore anyone got a pic of a packard in a 53 chev??
56 Packard Clipper, 56 Buick, 56 chevy custom lenses, inverted 56 Chrysler (ala Moonglow), 53 Pontiac station wagon (direct bolt on) 55 Lincoln, 54 Packard, 60 Chrysler, 53/54 Chev Lee bubble lenses, 55 Plymouth, 55 Packard.
On my 54 I really liked the darkened one piece all red lens for the stock 54 from Mooneyes (frenched). Dont know if they still carry them.
I am running a 56 chev front bumper on the rear and it is not perfect picked up a set of 56 Packard lenses, and they may stay in the wrapping for awhile
Here is one of the best looking 53/54 Chevy's to come along in a while. It has the packard taillights installed. See if you like them.
OH I like them but some of us have a low ambition level OK ACTUALLY THE QUALITY OF MY CAR IS THAT IT WILL NEVER BE A PERFECT CAR i maybee can camaflage it so it will look decent , but just dont want to do that much work and change the rear bumper, which i welded on, It is really a driver and thats mostly how I want to keep it and my wife wants us to use it to shows got a friend with some old cars going to check on them, got some old cad and see what could be made to fit I did look at a lot of cars at restaurants and parking lots at back to the 50,s this last week looked at a ton of 53 and 54 chevs I am going to the VA doctor and get the arm checked out?? and liquidate some of my business, and go back to work on this this fall if I am back in condition, got time to accumulate more parts I also want to get another car that I can get fixed up to do world of wheels and want a rad custom and mostly what I can afford will have to be gone through so I will be a busy camper again next winter but I had the greatest year pretty much of my life last year, doing the GNRS and placing in 8 conescutive shows, now I have to figure out how to do it again this weekend will be show #14 and gotta lot more to do
I'm with xhotrodder here except I think there is a MOPAR tail light that is dam near as good or better looking as the Packard, but I forget which model or year. Possibly a '56 Plymouth/Dodge or so??? I don't think the '57's are it because they became whale fendered like the '57 Chevys........... But I might be off here, it's been years........ pdq67
FYI here is a pic of the rear bumper and I would like to keep it for sure, got enough glue and weld holding stuff together back there anyone got a chunk of fender and lights ?? if i was doing this before the bumper would of done the 56 packard for sure, I did hold up a lens and it did not work out
thought of that too , got a set of 47 chev lites and the frenching buckets in the spares just not rad enuf?? wife wants bullet lites thought of 59 cad, but seems out of place shes gonna pay for a color change on paint and on this car she uses it so will let her have her way, but 2 cad lights on each side seem so stick out too far and would look garrish!!??? and I guess I am paying for the lites in back so will have it my way seen a 54 w a set of newer cad lites verticle i tink but they were a lot taller than original lites
heres a photo of the front for centurion #9, I did put bullets at bumper ends later went to doctor and got a shot of cortisozne and am now wishing that I never started on the body, but hope to finish it someday, looks like my bodywork and painting dreams are vanishing you 40 year olds that think you are too broke to do stuff, do it now and enjoy your health, that time was the best in my life, and I was mostly literally peniless, but went racing and built tons of engines and had a great time, even used to party a bit and smoke
