I wanted to store my brushes and couldn't find what I needed, So I went to a fly fishing shop and picked up this case I had a spring that fit perfect in side of it took some rivits and a piece of metal drilled some holes and befor you know it I had a case to hold my brushes. I then glued some leather inside the case. Now those *******s won't get all screwed up.

  7. That's pretty cool. I used a small tin that came with a bottle of scotch (mmm, scotch... [IMG] ) and cut a spring to fit, but hadn't quite figured out how to keep everything in place. I was waiting for the spring to go sproing.

    Thanks for the photos.

Any art work on the outside of the case?

Where did the spring come from?

  9. Very nice idea for a brush case! That's what it's all about;improvising.Someone had mentioned having a problem holding the spring in place. Here's a solution for that:
Mark where the spring touches the case on either side and drill two small holes slightly bigger than the wire diameter about 3/16th of an inch apart.Support the box and take a drift punch and very gently indent the metal between the two holes from the outside. Then take the end of the spring and feed it through one across the metal between the holes and back in the other hole until there are about two coils through it.Do the same to the other side and the spring should be anchored securely. You might want to tap the metal down slightly on the inside to keep the spring fromn rotating.

What a great idea! You should market it. Let me know when you start taking orders...I'll buy a couple. They would make great gifts!

While we are discussing brushes, is there a place online that they can be ordered?

HOKPaint.com has mack brushes online, that is where I bought mine. The price seems reasonable. I took about a week to get to Michigan. Someday I want to go to the Mack Museum in Jonesville, MI!
Rob, did you brush box come with the foam in it?
