Mirror looking into a mirror?

While admireing cars at york last weekend i was checking out a very nice tudor, ardun heads and all, the drivers' door mirror was a contraption that had one mirror looking into another mirror - to see the traffic lite? This contraption was from a detroit factory car. I didn't have a camera and too stoopid to use my phone. Again there were two mirrors one one mounting base, cast arms for each mirror. The normal rearview could look into the forward view mirror - they were situated one ahead of the other - to see what, the traffic lite? It was a factory made (detroit) item that was stock or an option on a car. Can anybody identify it? What car and year? I'm 60 and don't think i've ever seen one before. Thanks, oj

If its what I think you are talking about I think thats called a p***ing mirror Ive seen a few of them in the past

 

P***ing Eye mirror..see them on Ebay from time to time...

 

its for seeing around large vehicles and such so you dont have to pull into oncoming traffic and scare the jesus out of you and the other guy!
