Just got this Dual Quadrajet Big Block Chev Square Port Intake, never seen one before, has the Winters foundry snowflake on it and a GM part # starting with a 0.....Anyone know anything about it????? thanks
Wow...reversed front carb, too. That is strange. Can't wait to hear if anyone knows the story on it...
I sent this to a couple of parts guys I know and some of my BBC enthusiast friends. Everybody is stumped. Can't wait for the answer!
Really hope the guys that know what it came off of will tell us.. Offy made BB dual Q-Jet intakes in the past but I don't think they faced each other like this one does? pdq67
I thought I was a pretty informed BBC guy but this is a new one on me. Hope someone is able to shed some light on this one. Frank
Ever thought about calling Winters and asking if anyone is still around who worked on the factory prototype castings? I know Winters did the ZL1 blocks and a lot of Can-Am parts as well. I did this with Crower regarding an old BBC stack injector I have. They didn't really want to deal with me, but I finally got to talk to an "old guy" named John. Turns out he was the one who designed the manifolds in the first place! Since nothing else has turned up, you might get lucky...
Anyone ever see a cast iron 2-bbl BBC intake manifold?? I did! Wish I had a pic of it. The guy that had it sez it came off of '68 Chevelle/Malibu wagon.. Could have been a Canadian wagon....
I have one. Taken from a '69 396 Biscayne (may have been an Impala, Caprice, or BelAir, I've forgotten). Actually I used the engine for something else and the 2 bbl. was the first thing to go. It's still sitting at my parents' house. Dunno why I didn't s**** it a long time ago.
Please don't s**** it! Take a few pics of it first. It might even be worth something to a collector at a swap meet. You never know...........
Holleys if anything! Just like they did for the L-79's, Z/28 302/350's, L-72's, L-78's, L-88's, L-89's, ZL-1's and LS-6's...... Did I miss any??
Pretty sure '69 was the only year a big block could be had with a 2 barrel. Seems I recall they were rated at 260 hp. Bob
offered only in the '69 model year, on full size chevrolets only, 396/265hp equipped with 2bbl. weren't really that uncommon.
That's my understanding also. I've never seen another one personally, but I would guess that it wouldn't be that hard to find one. Besides...it being a 2bbl. BBC intake...kinda reminds me of what the surgeon said after he took out my appendix (a**** other things)...."Well, Mike, I have to say, I've read about this in medical journals, but I've never personally seen a case quite like this before." Being rare doesn't mean ya really want to have it around.
How would the linkage even work on that dual carb unit with the carbs facing each other ? I've never seen anything like this, let alone a BBC !
Man that is an odd ball, a 360 degree manifold too. It would have to be run non progressive. Funny how this thread got changed to 2 bbl manifolds. I am curious as to what its intended use is so im subscribed now.
I dont know if this help but that is for the vary 1st gen of Q-Jets. See the weird jog on the one side of the machined surface, that was for an early Carb warming port. Of Co**** its not used on a performance Intake
Now that's a wierd one. Any Chevy part starting with a "O" is research/development, prototype or experimental. Hope you find out more about it.
i would really love to hear two Q-jets cutting in at 4000, low gears, loosen the flaps up a little, no air cleaners, oh baby.
Yeah buddy! Love that sound, can't imagine what 2 would sound like with quiet exhaust. BTTT. I hope someone chimes in with the answer. Subscribed.
