All I can say is WOW! I never thought I'd see the day when I would wind up in a Dave Bell cartoon in the back of "Street Rodder" magazine. (Aug/2010) A real True Honor! I used to get busted by my parents all the time 'cause in junior high school, I'd sit in science cl*** and draw those rad little rides! I remember a 57' Chevy Nomad with a straight front axle, with boxes hanging out the back, I think it was in the letters to the editor section. that was a big favorite. They tell me you have really made it in the scene when Dave pens yer face! Thanks Mr Bell. you have truly made me a Happy Camper! FRITZ
I grew up with Dave only a few blocks away in St. Paul, MN. He pin striped my 57 Chevy dash in 1964 and had done numerous show cards and cart0ons for me over the years when entering local shows. He always put my fox terrier in the car in each cartoon. With this background, I was floored when a few months ago he featured me sitting in my stock 40 Ford convert being har***ed by Gene Sonnen in his flamed 40 telling me I should rod the ragtop. I too was honored and a huge blow up of the cartton is now framed in the garage. Sure glad I subscribe to Street Rodder. Dave has been ill this past winter but getting better. He is keeping his commitment to be guest of honor at the LA Roadster Show next weekend. From our point of view, we were disappointed as we hoped he would be at our 37th annual Back to the 50's car show. If you have never been to the MSRA 50's show you have not seen 11,500 1964 and older cars that fill one of the nations largest state fairgrounds. This is a happenning all on to itself. Cars from most states arive next week with most every vendor in the hot rod world there. God bless Henry Hi-Rise! Mr.34
