Well one of my new summer toys arrived, it's a 1957 International Ice Cream Truck. Not too bad overall, body needs to be cleaned up a bit and needs the usual stuff after sitting in a warehouse for over 20 years. First things I have to do is get the brakes and brake lights working, take care of a leaky carb and give it good overall tuneup, then it should at least be in cruising shape. This is my first International truck so I don't know that much about them, anyone out there have a good source for info or parts? Thanks.
Nogo, You're not too far from Fort Atkinson or Jefferson, if you've every gone to one of the bigger Wisconsin car shows you must have seen these. The owner I think had his IH featured in Vintage Truck magazine some time back: I'm sure they'd be interested in checking out your newest acquisition: http://www.kentsbigbar.com/
NOGO...If you beat me for an hour with br*** knuck's. i couldn't tell you why this intrique's me, but it doe's. have i crossed into the twilite zone?...POP.

Looks like you got yourself a killer little side biz! If you was in Cali, the truck would look like this:
Thanks for the info links guys. In answer to some of the questions, I will eventually use it as an ice cream truck for shows and such. I have a garage full of ice cream bikes, carts, a few other vintage trucks a little 3 wheel truck and a moped trike. I sorta got into them a while back and the bug stuck. I do sell ice cream on the side in the summer as a way to enjoy my hobby/obsession and to make some $$ to help pay for it. And Yes, I do carry Choco-Taco's! I do know about Kent's Big Bar, I've emailed Tom back and forth a bit and even sent him some photo work for a guy that wanted an old step van truck in an ad. They have a lot of the big shows in this area locked up as far as ice cream sales, but damn he makes some great ice cream. Every so often I try to get him to let me sell it from my stuff...but so far no go. Once this one is running I hope to cruise down and take a tour of his plant. Cold wise, this thing has a 4 cold plate freezer box on it, you plug it in overnight gets down to -20 or so and then unplug it the next day to drive around, stays cold all day off the plates. Haven't tested it yet, but everything on it looks good. The box has some bubbling, so that needs to be cleaned up, once I do I'll probable switch the box to standard white and add my logo for "Daddy-O's Ice Cream". Safari-wagon, I actually know that truck in the picture, I almost owned it a few years back when it was originally up for sale, you wouldn't believe how cheap it was originally. I thought I had a deal with the guy, was working out the details, and then Al from Fat Daddy's ice cream in Vegas showed up at his door with cash and a trailer and hauled it out away from under me..still stings a bit as the early 50's fat fender chevys are my favorite..someday I'll come across another. Anyway, Al turned the truck into a replica of the cheech and chong mobile, sold it a little later for a huge chunk of $$. He still has a pretty cool flamed orange chevy p10 that you'll see around Vegas shows, has hydralics and a flame thrower exhaust. BTW I actually know where the original cheech and chong truck is, but the guy's not selling. Anyway, so yeah, I'm into the old ice cream trucks and memorabilia, so if you come across any, let me know. I got another old one coming in another week or so, it's a 1960 Ford, might hot rod that one out, we'll see when it gets here. Way too many projects and not enough time or money, I got to stop buying these things. Till then...stay cool! Craig.
Hey, Nice find, if i had only been within driving distance, sorry about the cheech and chong truck i built, when i got it i never really even knew anyone else was on it, it took me 6 ohurs to drive and pick it up. AL Fat Daddy
There's a 36" pipeline going in 4 miles west of me can i rent it for the summer and sell cold drinks to the welders and pipeliners. That is a very nice truck.
Hey Al, It's not your fault, it was the guys decision to sell it to you, guess he prefered a guy at his door with cash ready to haul it away. No worries.. Still I would have really liked to have gotten that one. I'm still keeping my eyes out for another one for you and/or Carl. Might have something, if it pans out I'll let you know. Craig.
