All new cars look ugly. Bottom line. I heard that you can buy brand new '69 Camaro bodies with a frame now. I'd rather have that if I was going to get a "new" car. One day I'll design a car. And it's not gonna have stupid plastic covers covering everything either.

The new Montego is the Mercury counterpart to the new Ford 500...a kinda okay looking rounded off car that's big and heavy...and grossly underpowered by a Duratec V6!

I'll take one of them new Chargers, though! They're supposed to be doing a Daytona edition with a Hemi in limited numbers...I'd buy one if I were rich!

Point of fact:, the "Hemi" that is pushed in brain-dead advertising is "hemi" only in the plastic badge pasted on the pos Daimler-Benz product. The engine is NOT a hemispherical combustion chamber (hemi) engine. Hot Rod magazine may ****, but they are technically correct, I trust them here.

The Chrysler Corpse is dead. Get over it. Every else is lying garbage advertisting.

    Mike

BTW: no Dodge was ever factory equipped with "the LEGENDARY hemi": more advertising garbage.

.....At least you can't go down to the local Ford dealership and buy a new Rat Rod. (yet). [IMG]

This is what happens when the designers are all 22 and want to look like a Honda or a scion or a Ricer whatever. Sad thing is The 20 somethings will probably buy them. They don;t even know what a Fairlane is

Don't say 'front wheel drive' too loud, they'll resurrect the Toronado and claim they're keeping it real...

What I don't get is in this age of computer science, aerodynamics and fuel economy, why are car designers creating boxes? Gee, what shall we make that hits the air like a ton of bricks? That will help the air flow... Maybe it's me, but I think there's a reason modern funny cars aren't shaped like H2s...

They also don't look all that stable to me. Seems like a 17 year old with a full head of steam could roll one of those pretty easily. Maybe they're not as unstable as they look. I hope not considering the age bracket they target with the 'affordable box' cars of today...

Here's a page of pix and comments on some of the new cars and concept cars from the big Detroit auto show:

It includes pix and comments on the Fairlane and on other cars like the polished aluminum Shelby GR1 concept car:

ha ha I love when the new guys open their mouth about **** they know nothing about.... Ther were plenty of Dodges that came from factory with Hemi's and the started beign legendary in the 50's... I mean come on there were 241's, 270's, 315's and 325's in the 50's.. then of course there were the **** Landy cars from '64 that had 426 Hemi's that the factory installed... Hmmm... Maybe you should go back to cl***.... Yes the factory installed the engines, of course **** went on to alter the wheelbase later but it came to him from tha factory with the 426... Thanks for playing, please try again...

Hey Long gone! No factory Dodge Hemis? No offence dude, but read a book before ya make yourself look bad. There were factory Dodge Hemis all over super stock, and F/X drag racing in the sixties. Many of these cars still exist and are still raced. They are a big part of drag racing history. Ramchargers, Color me gone, **** Landy, etc.
