Hello and thank you for your time. I am runnin a '82 S10 rearend under my '37, And need a axle. Any help on what will fit? Ive heard 82-mid 90s....
I believe the axle splines changed from 26 to 28 around 1988.Also check the wheel lugs for US or metric thread ,that may have changed at the same time.I don't think you can swap out the lug studs, different diameters, but the wheels fits US or metric just fine and the nut takes the same wrench.
Also..I believe there is a difference in width from the 2wheel drive versions and the 4x4..wmf to wmf Ha quick one Sinister
Ya i'd just get a new one from the boneyard,it's usually cheap enough.A good one to look at are the late 90's V8 explorer rear ends. They are a Ford 8.8 as used in mustangs,rangers,T-birds,shit like that. They have 3.73's,Trac-loc posi, big disk brakes, all the parts are available everywhere(theres millions of explorers),and theres a huge aftermarket for them.I'm using one in my car. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Explorer8_8.html
That sounds like a great idea. Damnit all, I just had mine gone thru by a friend. I thought he would have thunk something. Oh Well Thanks everyone. Ill just stay with the 82-85 2wd fer this summer
...stay away from 94 S-10 rears, they are different than all others as far as axles go, unless you buy a complete rear to swap....94 was the change to the newer body style...
