I got the front frame and 440/727 from the New Yorker welded into my "56 Plymouth. Figuring out steering column hook-up now, then will tackle wiring it up so it'll move. Getting tired of pushing it around. Here's the newest idea for paint.

Looks good, Animal. Isn't that color called "write me a ticket please officer" yellow? [IMG] BTW I still want that Plymouth rear end; I just need to get some time to go over and pick it up.

  10. That's pretty close! I was calling it "retina-searing yellow". "Arrest Me Red" was a close second for color choice. Whenever you're ready, just give me a holler.

Well here's my project. I sold the 66 Falcon I had and bought this. It's a 64 1/2 Mustang coupe. It's getting a Speedway straight axle kit. The engine I'm going with is a 351W with 4V Cleveland heads, fenderwell headers and a 6-71 blower. Right now I'm just collecting parts until it warms up a little(like above 0!! ). Seeing VT's Fairlane has given me some more ambition to get this done! [IMG]

And I think I'm going to paint it black and call it "Dark Horse". Original huh? [IMG]

What kind of steering box are you using. I am in the process of building 53 chevy sedan and need steering.

Allright! The thread that won't go away! All of you guys will be at MoKan, right?

  20. KustomGasser, I'm going to use a Saginaw 525 manual box on my '56, not to bad of a price and a bit stonger then the Vega boxes. If anyone is interested you can follow the build on my friends '55 that should be on the road by spring. The link is:

    http://www.rebelrodscarclub.com/members/lonniecobb/55straightaxle.htm

I'll be doing the same on my '56

I get a lot of crap for it but my car is not a str8 axle. As a matter of fact I reluctantly had to put a rack and pinion on it to clear the 2 1/4" primary headers. The original steering box gives a lot of headaches with big tube fenderwell headers.
We saw a link to that 55 buildup over on the Two Lane Blacktop website. Nice car!

Hopefully this thread will be around after I get my Gasser shit put together.... The frame has been hacked and rewelded, and I've gathered most of the parts... Just need to get it assembled...

  23. Yeah, they're doing a good job on it, working all the kinks out before they start on my '56 [IMG]
