Hello, MWM seeking affection..........whoops, wrong board! I'm 46, work as a technical manager in the oil industry, have been into drag racing since I was a little kid (many fond memories of CDR and Rocky Mountain Raceway) and hot rods, muscle cars and bikes since I learned to drive. Along with my brother, have built and raced drag bikes for the last 10 years and recently completed my first ground up chopper. Finally after many years of sweat, blood, raising two sons and working my ass to the bone I'm able to start building the car I've always wanted......a 30' highboy roadster. Hope I can pick up some good tips and shorten the learning curve.
Welcome, you are on the best car site on the net. You'll learn plenty from these guys. Good to see another Colorado guy on the board! My girlfriend and I just acquired a 31 roadster, but we need to acquire some parts before we tear into it. Look forward to seeing progress pics of you car. sled
Okay, you must be the 15th intro from Colorado this morning, but welcome! Always great to have another drag race guy on here. Can you post some pix of your stuff? That always helps keep the intro police at bay.I also enjoy long walks in the park - PM me (that was a non-serious joke).
Beginning to think ther's a reason it's called ColoRODo. Greetings from Gunnison, come see us if ya get the urge to freeze your ass off ! What treasures are you hoarding ? Welcome aboard. Johnnie.

That'd make you about seven or eight when CDR was a happening place...Dad musta took you then? Another ColoRODo guy...building a Model A...ho hum...well, you're joining a "rare" pak of the group on here that has them.... FWIW, welcome to the HAMB...you've come to the rite place to learn... R-
Welcome, I'm right around the corner in Highlands Ranch. If you ever need any help with the rod or need someone to polish off some beer for you, just let me know!
Hi from the Northen part of CO. Seems to me like we have enough Colorado members for a nice HAMB BBQ!
Thanks all............ I was 7 or 8 the first time I went to CDR and believe it or not, it was my Mom who took us! She was kind of an original rockabilly chick....pegged levis, white french-cuffed shirts and saddle shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But CDR holds many fond memories, the time Alan Bockla strapped a whole can of whoop ass on "Big" and the day the very first 200 mph top speed was run by the very same Alan Bockla! Still remember the final AA/FA bash at RMR and watching Wild Willie drive the "Winged Express" guardrail to guardrail! Hope to get started with the build in the next month or so and sur ehope it isn't sacrilege to mention re-pop steel on this board! It will have a flattie though to match the stroked 45 flattie bobber that's going together at the same time!

[/ QUOTE ] I was there that day as well...I musta been about 24 or 25 then, at the time I worked for the Denver ad agency that handled all of CDR's advertising and PR...had to be at every one of them races...what a terrible job I had, but someone had to do it...my boss was heavier into golf, chasing a little white ball around was for old men, not me!!! No one really minds re-pop steel on this board...even 'glas is accepted if done correctly...especially with a flattie in it!! R-

Hi, and welcome from another cold-ass place in southern CO. I used to go to CDR when I was attending auto school in Denver in '70-'71.

40StudeDude....I did my intro a couple of weeks ago!...please don't beat me .thanks for the heads up on the paint and primer event.
[ QUOTE ] 40StudeDude....I did my intro a couple of weeks ago!...please don't beat me. [/ QUOTE ] AS long as you did an intro, OK, and I'm not into "beating" anyone...verbal lashing maybe...but physically beating...nope had my share of that when I was a youngster (see my book at the link below)! Anyway, my '40 Stude coop came from Basalt...and has only been back there once since it was built!!! How's the town these days? R-
Welcome! A lot of folks from Colorado lately. Man, a few years ago I think it was just Me, 40studedude, Ichoptop, Ray & Zeke.
The book looks to be a good read....congrats. There's an old Farmer 1/2 a mile from my house who has numerous old stude's sitting on his farm including pick-ups and a cherry avanti, asides from that Basalt is still kinda quiet.
[ QUOTE ] gee, thanks. what the fuck am I, invisible!?!?! [/ QUOTE ] Oops, sorry! You and Radical56Chevy too.
Wouldnt it be easier to start a new thread about the car your looking for? This guy hasnt even been on here for over a year.
