So, is that a fleet of flying saucers landed to examine our garbage or what?

The economy is in the tank, a lot of people are out of work, a lot of geezers living on a fixed income are hurting because their retirement investments have hit the skids and Goodguys and N.S.R.A have priced themselves out of the adverage guys market. The leadership of those organizations have been sucessful in spite of themselves and now they have hit the Peter Principal and have not listened to their customers. But if they fail then no worries maybe the idiots in D.C. will bail them out..Ha Ha,,Good Luck!!!!!

I heard there were cars with numbers in the 2900 range, so around 3,000 cars. What is the norm for that event?

you hit the nail on the head.... ;)

  15. I think the weather also played a part. I know a number of friends who didn't bother to make the trip after seeing a weather report.

I and the few friends I took still had a great time. I was told we missed an earlier storm that ripped off awnings and sent tents across the pit area.

On Sat after they dried off the track, there was still a show to watch.
I thought the swap meet was only about half the size as previous years, but it was still interesting and helpful.

Sorry, I left the camera back at the hotel and was too lazy to go back for it. Missed a lot of good pics.

My son tried some of the free Spam and didn't care for it. I thought it was good.

Did anybody notice what the black primered VW bug ran at the drags?
This young kid sunk a lot of money and work into it. He doubled the size of the engine displacement, had the case reworked, had a billet crank made with Chevy small block specs, bigger jugs, welded heads to add extra studs, added weber carbs and lots of other work.

He was hoping he could hit the elevens or possibly tens with his 1,200 pound lightweight.
Years ago I saw one touch the nines with a turbo.
Does anyone know if this guy made his goal?
    Thanks

Nice "artsy" photos. I'm always afraid to open artsy photo threads as those with the distorted photos tend to make my eyes hurt.

That little green truck just flat spins my wheels for some reason.

Hell I wear myself out looking at cars at a 500 car event on a weekend, I don't get all that worried if an event only has 3500 cars instead of 5000. Sounds like better conditions for the guys who actually decided to go.

June is the wettest time of year in central Indiana & the weather is predictably hot & humid. There is probably some reason that the event cannot be moved to a date later in the summer but the rain has effected all outdoor events this year in june. Its rare that a weekend goes by in the summer here that there isnt some automotive thing happening. Vi-Va Indy!

Probably not...I'm going to the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green this weekend so I don't think I'll make the Rumble.

Tierod, I wouldn't mind meeting you at the rumble. Most of the car guys I know in person are restorers or musclecar/street machine guys. It would be nice to kick ideas around with guys more into the traditional stuff.
