FOUND A UNIQUE FLATTY INTAKE, IM TOLD IT WAS AVAILABLE WITH INTERCHANGABLE TOPS, 3X2, 4X2'S. ANYBODY HAVE ANY ANY INFO ON THIS ONE? THANKS
Zilch on a google search for McGuire intake or McQuire Engineering Toledo. To me that means those words/phrases were never used on the net. Must be rare
I just did a search on the net and can't find anything.... I'd say make a mold of it and cast a bunch of copies.... Yes???............. No???........
Cool looking, but I doubt it would breath very well............look at how little space is in the 'plenum'..........and how many sharp corners the air flow has to turn........ Interesting piece nonetheless..............but of uncertain performance enhancement. Ray
I'm with ya' on the performance issue. Whoever made it new a lot more about the foundry end of the business than the engineering side. Of course, that wouldn't stop me from putting it on my flathead. Bob
Maybe Ryan could show the photos to Vern Tardell? He may have some knowledge about the manifold and McQuire Company...worth a shot. Murph
You might want to send the photos to Speedy Bill Smith @ Speedway. His collection and knowledge of these pieces is second to none.
Totally unjustified dig, in my opinion. When you have accomplished as much as he has, including his world class collection and museum, maybe your opinion will be worth the space it consumes. Ray
Vern would disagree, but Z already covered that. ask the Stromberg carburetor company what THEY think of seedy bilk ... i mean speedy bill
If you cant find any info pm me i will talk to a local guy that has one of the largest collections and has tons of info on flathead intakes...
Or you could ask the 'beaner. But that is off the point. Pretty neat looking intake wish I had some information for ya. Tardel is going to be a good avenue for ya, if he doesn't know its not likely you'll find someone who does.
Extremely old thread, I don't even know how I found it , can't help with the McGuire , but I can say the Fairbairn manifold is/was made in New Zealand, by Eddie Fairbairn, I would guess in the 60s, he still active in the hot rod business in Christchurch , NZ. ....American Auto Parts.
Eddie is currently resurecting his flathead dragster from the 60s complete with the original Waggott Heads and other parts. He was the last owner of the Pink Panther Model A roadster built by Dave Chung of B?C equipment in Wellington NZ.
