So ive heard some rumors about mixing a true satin black. Some say mix 2 quarts of gloss black with 1 quart of flat primer black. Then some say that House of Kolor makes a satin black. So does anyone have any exsperiance with doing a at home satin black? Maybe have pictures of it? This is what im going for...
satin rustoleum works but that kind of the cheap way. also kustomshop.com makes a great satin black plus a bunch of other colors. used the stuff personally and it worsk amazing. heres a photo.
I sprayed my wifes lowrider pickup with napa brand catylized black sealer over a year ago, and it still looks bitchin! And it was dirt cheap! We get compliments every where we go in it if i remember right it was about $80.00 for a gallon with catiylist and it goes on really easy and smooth, holds up really good to and it is parked outside in the sun all day, no fading or chalking at all, and its cheeeep! Just my two cents worth hope it helps!
I didn't count the cans but I used the same stuff. WalMart has the best price locally. I have tried other brands but I prefer Krylon for the look and I like the way it goes on. It blends beautifully.
Use 2 parts gloss to one part flattening agent. You can get flattening agent at your local paint supplier. Duplicolor gloss black is a cheap and durable paint you can get at just about any auto parts place in a gallon size.
Crappy body work and red steel wheels - thats the key to satin black at home! Been there - done that!! (ok, maybe even more than once)
Kirker makes "hot rod black" that went on my truck pretty easy. Didn't turn out too bad for first vehicle I've ever painted
I got it from my local retail Benjamin Moore paint store. It might not be in stock, but they can order it. The nice thing about this paint is that if you put it on dry, it comes out flat. If you put it on normal, it is a really nice semi-gloss.
from what i hear if you ever want to do a real paint job in the future stay away from blitz black / tractor supply flat black
