Whats up guys. I am building a 52 Victoria for some frineds of mine. Kind of a neet deal. They never owned an "old car" in their lives and decided they wanted one. AFter looking around a bit they found this old girl and fell in love with her, but she is a little rough around the edges. It is going to be a mild custom down tastefully. Not really completely traditional as it is being built the way they want it, but I am leading them as close as I can get them. Underneath it will be subframed with a small block chevy, turbo 350, and 10 bolt gm, as he Flathead and good stuff has been long gone. Outside it will have frenched headlights and tailights, rounded hood corners and molded in upper valance, bumpers will be moved back most trim shaved and some new added, low out back with a slightly higher nose, tuck and roll interior in red and white with a red and white body. Should look good. What I am looking for is any pictures of tastefully done 52-54 Fords. Seems like every picture I find is all raked out with air shocks and some stupid looking hood scoop. What do you guys have in pictures of these cars built as customs?
'52 - '54 Fords make great customs. Less is more when working with these cars. Just putting the finishing touch on mine. Check my signature for a link to my build thread. I need to update the pictures there and in my album. Been to busy! Join the '52-'54 Ford social group - great info there.
Isn't there a Jimmie Vaughn thread around here somewhere? Search Jimmie Vaughn's Victoria if you haven't already; it's a '54.
Theo...thanks for bringing up Jimmy Vaughan's '54 Vickie ! You don't have to search any farther !! My Interview with Gary Howard who built Jimmy's '54 is on my Hall Of Fame Legends Site and you can hear his story about building it right now ! Just go to this link on my WebSite: http://d10514412.u46.c5.ixwebhosting.com/gpage50.html Gary Howard is a MASTER BUILDER, and it shows in every car he puts on the street...and they're all DRIVEN ! Good luck, evil ! The '52-'54 Vickies make very cool rides ! Jonnie King
If you wanna look at my lowly build, there are pictures in my profile. The '54 ford group has a few custom builds that are going great. Rikster's site has a few pictures. The Pete Angress ford should be some source of inspiration!
My first post was from my phone - just got back to my computer. I thought I'd post a couple of updated pics of mine. Think It was influenced by the Howard/Vaughan car? Maybe a little. Custom Crestline's car is awesome - this kid is still in high school!!!! check out his profile pics!
that hood scoop was more than likely from the mercury that has a nearly identicle body with the exception of the hood scoop from the factory. I dont like them myself either but I do like the merc spears that are on the rear arch (3 to each side on the fender bulge), just look at the white one up the page to see what I am talking about.
This one rules too. I never saw it until I bought the Big Book of Barris last year, but I love the "unusual" grill choice that most of us would never think to use today. Totally works, though.
http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?***le=Pete_Angress'_1952_Ford That one car covers the two styling trends that these cars look great as. mid to late '50s, and early 60's styles. Like I've mentioned before, there are a few really nice cars being built, or have been built in the past five or so years, and many of those are on the HAMB. This body style is jumping in popularity. Check out Slmlords build, Daddyo's build, Chicosauve1's and missydad1's builds just to see the few (off the top of my head) that I think rock.
Great cars -- some really cool/nice ones posted so far!! ^^^and this is funny -- seems like Spam -- "reported" Malcolm
Perhaps you'll find the build thread on this car (photoshop image by James D.) interesting... 1952 Victoria Build-Up Part 1 Enjoy!
Not been around the computer much, working to much. Here is a picture of the car when I picked it up for the Harbours. This weekend I plan to tear it down and start sizing up the frame work. The guy who had it went for that "Ratrod" look, which isn't my style. It will be a cool ride when finished and hope to have the cruising by late summer.
By the way, what do you guys think of the idea of one piece front gl*** with no vent window? Anyone done it on this body style? Any pics? I have always been big on the no gl*** in the hole look with the windows down.
I think it would look good, but I think the hinges would get in the way of the gl***. Check how the gl*** travels down into the door.
