I've gone with my dad for about 10 yrs, this is the first year I have registered a car.

Problem is.... NO CAR! Bought my 37 Nash, but have been having problems getting it back from M***. (long story, don't make me go into it).

So, since I've paid for my registration, but have no car, do I just go to the hotel and get my p***es? Is there a long line of cars I stay in, or do I go into the parking lot, go inside and get my registration (p***es in to the event).

Any help on what to expect would be appreciated... Thanks!

Go to the headquarters hotel (Hampton Inn on 694 and Lexington Avenue) to get your packet. You'll have to go inside with your confirmation letter to get your packet but it's well organized and won't take too long. The ****ons in the packet will get you into the show, car or no car. Too bad you didn't get your car back but I trust you will still have a fun weekend.

Just go to the hotel were you register find a place to park and go inside. Bring you registration papers with you and when you get inside the hotel you'll see what line you need to be in. There is a lot of traffic in that area and you may have a tough time finding a place to park but you'll find one, I usually park in the parking lot across the street, heads up I don't know if they want you to but I do and I haven't ever had a problem. Sorry you can't bring a car, but have a good time.

I had this happen several years back when I first registered my car. Ran into a pheasant two days before the show and busted up the windshield. We went there to the hotel and explained what happened and that we didn't actually have the car there with us. The lady explained that it was alright. Gave us all the do***entation and said the pins in the package would still get us in the show. Worked out just fine. Come to find out later on that a large number of people register a car for the show but never bring one to the show. A lot of them are using it as a way to get a camping spot there at the fairgrounds and to save money getting into the show. I know this because I camped with them :). Kinda makes it hard to drive the old car you registered a few hundred miles to find out that there are not spots left due to people taking advantage of it that way. Also came to find out that the vast majority of the people there were right from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Had plenty of them saying that their home was only a ten minute drive. They like to advertise how they have over 10,000 registered vehicles for the show. I bet 2-3,000 never show. Don't even get me started on the HAMB meeting areas they have there. Last time I went to this show was two years ago. Went to the area where people from the HAMB were going to meet and found that they all left because it started to rain. What? I shouldn't complain completely. Still a good show and had a lot of fun there. Chip Foose got to see us one year!

I have NEVER driven my car to 50's, but have registered the last 4 years. I always hope it's going to get done but as of yet it hasn't : ( so I just pre-register to save the money. early pre-registration is $25 and you get 2 weekend p***es, so you save $35 right of the bat if you have 2 people go all 3 days. Plus you get in the prize drawings, won $200 gift certificate last year, and if you have friends who didn't register you can p*** your window placard on to them.

I always pick up my registration at the hotel on thursday evening after dinner, walk right in, walk right out.

Cool, no worries then. I thought maybe that you had to prove you brought your car, but it seems that it's exactly the opposite. Not sure why they don't just send it out in the mail then....

Sure seems like sending it out in the mail would be easier for everyone.
I guess they are afraid someone will counterfit the window stickers.
