LARS is the what I wait for all year. I can easily spend the entire weekend looking for parts in the swap meet --if I have time, I might look at some cars.

What are you going for? The PARTS, the CARS, or SOMETHING ELSE?

The show. Not just a car show but a people show. I love the tall thin chicks with the plastic ****s and f--k me pumps. Always one or two walking around.

That's a long drive just to look at "one or two" chicks...:p
    Supermarkets are way better.

  6. Everything but the roadsters pretty much Saturday. But, I'll blow through the roadsters for a few minutes Sunday, after all the chaos subsides from Saturday. But, mainly, 80% of my 2 days there is swap, and swap adjacent cars

First thing is to get into specialty parking as close to the swap meet center aisle to make bringing home treasure much easier. Those sharper and braver than I slither into the empty spots in the swap zone, really in the center of it all. Then a fast lap through the most non pro vendors to catch items not at silly prices. Not that silly prices are evil, since it's serious cash that brings out the stuff that would otherwise not see the light of any day soon. Go to Long Beach to see what happens when the money dries up. Then the harvest of catalogues and flyers from the waxie vendors and manufacturers. Any show specials are noted and it's back to swapland to dig a bit deeper looking for good stuff. As for the big roadster exibit, Looks sooooo out of touch with paste wax and tire black the topic of the day. The good cars are so often kept at bay in the "Specialty Parking" where the owners are most likely to have done their own work. Good Luck: Fred A

Never been before...Is it worthwhile if you're too broke to buy a car?? I will never understand why I torture myself looking at things I can't have.

Well, I'll get there thursday and wait in line , for I have to get aboat 23 vendor spots for all my friends, I usally bring out my better parts, for the roadster show I will see my friends that actually need the partsto build a car, and not the guys that just want to buy cheap, so they can run home and sell it on e-bay. saterday afternoon I will be barbequen for my friends, this year I don't think I will stay for Sunday. The L. A. Roadster show is pretty much the themometer for how the market is doing. If sales are slow, we are pretty much in for another bad year. If sales are brisk, then the reccesion is over for the old car market , though I dought we will ever see the crazy prices that stuff was bringing a few years back. That was do to guys speculating on car parts , which in turn is not healthy for our hobby anyway.

I'm with Coby, and to see friends that I don't get to see all that often. Besides, it's one of the best deals of the year...

For me it's a chance to spend some time with pops. He lives in L.A. and I live in San Diego (Military Man), so we don't get to do too much hot rodding together. He looks for parts for his '30 Hudson and '39 Chevy Truck, and I look for more stuff for my Model A's to spend my money on. Always nice to look around and see if there's anyone out there doing something different.

THIS I am afraid is how I'll be as well. There are a few items I am hunting, and you never know who will have them. I am also distracted by the other parts/things I "need/must have". I just don't want to spend the entire time shopping so I can take in the sights. Is there any formula to maximize shopping and looking at the rides? If I start with the swap meet what time should I set my alarm to knock it off and catch the other things? (Damn military brain has trouble comprehending just going and doing stuff without a plan). Or do I just sleep in my truck Saturday night and gawk at cars Sunday morning (is this even possible)? Oh well I guess I'll just have to see when I get there.
