Great that this car has finally been cloned...As I recall, Danny Sakai was one of the top hot rodders in the LA area until he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1941 (?) this is one of the best looking modifieds with the LaSalle grille, perfect lines, ...

It's funny. There were so many NICE looking TRUE modifieds back then and the recipe was really pretty simple.

Park this car next to a shortened sedan with the roof cut off still sporting the closed car A pillars, WS frame and the most differentest grille shell that could be found at the swap meet and it seems criminal that they could share the same label.

    What a great car.

  4. It is the perfect Mod and an Icon of that era. Danny died October 17 1941, he hit a telephone poll on fellow club member Bob West's motorcycle.

Kevin, unfortunately, lots of folks, not recognizing sarcasm when they read it, will now have their idea, that a shortened sedan with the top cut off is cool, validated.

Now, where'd I put that old LaSalle grill...

You know, I should have really been looking at how rad this car is, instead of bagging on something else. And the irony... my old car was a shortened sedan with the roof cut off!

Wow! I've been hoping someone would clone this car for a long time; it's my favorite modified.

Can't wait to see it this weekend.

rick buillt another great one for lattin, it was a real quick build too, 2 or 3 months. bobk this was the one in bare aluminum when you toured his place. i haven't seen it in person since the final ***embly but it was pretty amazing even before paint.

I got Kevin perfectly clear and he is right on. Wonderful clone of the Sakai car.
Reminds me of the Phil Remington car.

    I wouldn't have guess it wasn't black...

  26. G'day Justin, do you happen to have any build shots?

I always thought it was black.

Very cool. I love the Nisei racer history. A lot of stories that need to be told.
