Hi Guys, I live in Houston, TX and I'm the proud owner of a '51 Chevy pickup with a 1964 327 of unknown origin under the hood. Thanks to some research on here I actually just found out today that I have the double hump or "camel back" heads on my engine. A very nice surprise because we had previously thought it was the lower performance 250hp version. This forum is working out great already!
What?! a 327 that isn't from a Corvette? I kid. Welcome from Houston. It's nice to hear you got lucky with quality parts. It just seems like every SBC on the planet was supposed to be from a 'Vette.
Hi Spike, welcome from Scotland. An AD with a 327 Vette engine....sounds like heaven. Not that I'm 'biased' you understand....? BTW Here's a link. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=132 See ya there!
Just to be clear, I don't think I have a Corvette motor. There were three versions of the 327 that year. A 250hp, a 300hp, and a 365hp (or 375?) which was in the vette. I'm guessing this is the 300hp version like they put in Chevelles. Also, I have no idea how many miles could be on this engine so I am sure it isn't as hot as it once was. Can't wait for my points ignition conversion to come in the mail though. Figure that ought to help out the high end a lot and hopefully make it just run better in general. Also want to get an "H" pipe to connect the dual exhaust and take a die grinder to the insides of my exhaust manifolds to open them up a bit. The steering column just barely clears the left manifold so it won't work with headers... I could go on and on...
Welcome to the HAMB, you joined in 05 and your finally getting around to your intro? Lets see some of your leather work.
Yeah, I joined back then looking for some piece of info but didn't really spend any time here because I didn't have a hotrod yet. Now I have one and here I am. I just uploaded some pics of my leather work to my photo albums if you want to check it out.
