guage experts

    I just finished wiring my wife's 63 Comet. Turn the ignition on and the temp and fuel gauge sweep all the way. I disconnect the gauge at the sender and it drops back down. Disconnect the fuel at the sender and it drops also. I tried switching the pole on the back of the gauges and it does the same thing. Any help is appreciated

    if they are stock gages you need to be going through the resistor.

    Yea I found out from the harness manufacturer that the resistance was way high. My gauges operate at 0 to 30ohms. They were up in the 200's. I'm going to buy a potentiometer and dial it back.thanks for the input. How could you be a member since 06 and that was your first post? I'm honered

    Do you have the stock instrument voltage regulator wired into the circuit?

    Where can I find a voltage regulator? I don't have one

    Look on the back of about any Ford gauge cluster from up to I think the 70's. Should be one in line with the wiring on the back.

    NAPA carries them, I believe the part number is IR 1 or IR 2 in the Echlin line
