Don't have pictures, but remember that Art Malone ran a newspaper box on his Hilborn from some paper named "Press" -- for those of us who had never seen rural newspaper boxes, we thought that Malone had a sponsor named "Press,"...I think Connie Swingle drove for some guy from Louisiana who had a "Times-Picayune" box for a blower scoop...
my buddies run one and it's at the beginning of this video <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z007fCI4Cm4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z007fCI4Cm4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> .
How about ones covering long runner log manifolds on old g***ers ? Home made 6 carb log with long square tube runners.
G***ERGL*** also a HAMB MEMBER who makes all those vintage Surfer Style Scoops also makes Fibergl*** MAIL BOX scoops with the carb holes already molded in. Single carb and dual carb scoops. Neat Item. I ran one for years, they never seemed to stay on very long, Id go through 2 or 3 a year. I was too poor to buy a real scoop in those days.
Minus the exaughst... the curb feelers... the silly mailbox, the trim holes, AND the chevy bird, nice corvette. I would drive it for sure with all of the fore mentioned things done to it. And it wouldn't hurt to put a hood with a bigger cowl on it too. Just saying.
