Hey everyone, my name's Sean. I'm a 28 year old technician in the Seattle area. I've always wanted a hotrod project to build, and a friend of mine just told me that he's giving me his '51 Merc! I've been helping him out with other projects lately and he said he wants me to have this one. This is by far the coolest gift I've ever been given. It'll be a huge learning process since I'm new to body/paint work. The pics **** because it's in the back corner of his shop, and has half a 36 chevy being stored inside it. All the body panels are there except for the roof. It has a chevy 4.3 with I believe a 700R4 ******. The car actually ran a couple months ago but now it just cranks (no spark).
Now that is a friend! Great project, is it a converted 4 door? There are lots of guys who have done that on the HAMB. You 'll love this place! Have fun!
Welcome aboard from Maryland! Nice project to have for sure....... Sure hope you keep us up on your progress............
Thanks guys. It's an original 2 door, the rear quarter just isn't mounted up so it appears cut away. This thing is so low it'll probably need bags just to make it driveable, which I was planning on doing anyway. We'll be making a roof for it unless I can find one from a donor car. I'd much rather have a car with a clean chopped hard top than a permanent *******, especially in the rainy northwest. My wife and I are in the final stages of buying our first house, so this will have a home in 1 side of the new 2 car garage. Can't wait to get started on it.
Will do. This seems like an awesome place for ideas and advice, plus just a cool site to hang around while I should be doing something productive.
Thanks. Now I just need to get this house closed so I have a good place to work on it. Short sales are a *****.
Welcome from n.e. pa. young man !!!I`m new too but from what I`ve read any info. you need you`ll find here.Good luck with your Merc!
