pilferage and/or theft is half the reason groceries are so expensive. If you had a business and your customers or just p***ersby thought it was OK to take any of your support equipment for their own use, forcing you to have a 'replacement budget', would you be chuckling about it just being in good fun? This is the 'they're so big, they won't miss it" syndrome. I ***ure you that the cost of any stolen merchandise or equipment in any business gets tacked right onto the price you pay at the counter.

Really no different than someone walking into your garage while you're in the house taking a leak and walking off with something they decide that they needed more than you did - still hilarious?

    WOW Man,
Chill out he physically couldn't steal it because of his current location!
And I am pretty sure he didn't tell them " Oh just find the nearest grocery store and put it in a shopping cart!"
Anyone ever think that sometimes grocery store get rid of the carts they have had for the last 10 years to get new ones?

When I picked up the 455 for my project, the seller had it on a shoppin cart all rigged up ready to run. First time I had ever seen it, but I guess it is the poor mans engine stand!

My wife works at Giants Foods and has stories almost every week about people stealing, groceries, grills anything....it happens so much if it doesn't total to over $500 bucks they don't even bother w/ the cops...lately fuel had been the reason for increase cost of groceries, there way of dealing w/ these lost revenues is cutting back employees hours, and having self checkout lines....never once have I heard of anyone stealing a shopping cart...Drive arround back and look in the dumsters you will probably find one there-for free ....and the parking lots out front are video taped, not in the back

It's only stolen if they intend to keep it.

  14. Here in SoCal, some neighborhoods are littered with shopping carts. The illegal....err....undo***ented....err......disenfranchised....err.....shoppers push them home. They think it's another free service that MY country has to offer along with free education, health care, welfare, food stamps, Section 8 housing and all the rest.

Anyhoo, don't bust the guys balls while he's putting his *** on the line for you and yours while you sit at the keyboard and choke the goose. He didn't steal or condone the theft. Don't kill the messenger.

When I last lived in a bigger city, shopping carts were left in the alley all the time. If you call up the store it belongs to, unless it is withing a one minute walking distance, they will NOT come get it. They actually asked me to bring them back to them, even though I didnt take them.

There are some enterprising rodders here in Central Ca. that round up shopping carts and return them to the stores for a fee. One guy made a special trailer for this operation!
He was telling me a story about a street person that had 'moved in' to a new one, and refused to give it back. He let it slide...
