Bought a Ford 9 inch here are the spec's
    <TABLE style="BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" id=table1 border=1 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="98%"><TBODY><TR><TD bgColor=#fae9d1>WDM-BF2</TD><TD>Ford F100 Pickup '75-'79</TD><TD align=middle>3.00</TD><TD align=middle>9 in</TD><TD align=middle>NL</TD><TD align=middle>28</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Can this be narrowed? Need it to be 56 inches wide , current 65 1/4

Can these 28 spline axles be re-splined read that 67 and up can be as the have no taper.

(This was in a 70 ford truck, so I naturely thought it was out of that, until I decoded the tag)

    Thanks
    Mike

That's a good candidate or narrowing. When you determine what has to be taken out of each side I'd recommend you send the axles to Moser to be cut and resplined, fastest and most accurate service I've ever used. While you have the axles there have them replace the wheel bearings and change the bolt pattern if you need to have that done.

They can also install the long studs if you are planning on racing.

Or, look for one in a '67 to '72. They are about 56-57 inches wide, backing plate to plate.

    Thanks

Thought I might have bought s****, the tag was missing when I looked at it last weekend.

He had it in the shed and put it back on when i picked it up. The center section has been removed in the past as it has silicone all over it. Guess I will tear it apart and see what everything looks like.

Are these axles capable of being resplined, they should be 28's

Any thoughts on the 3.00 with a 700R4? What about a T5? wrong ratio?

if your not racing check with the local 4x4 guys as their is probably local person to narrow axles. i used to have local guy do it and he stood behind themand never had issue 1 with them, these were cut and welded for $25.

I highly recommend moser as well. Give them a call before you narrow it (if you are doing it yourself) they will walk you through it. You cant beat their axles either.
