Got it in base coat today, perfect day for it..warm and sunny. Grill and bumpers go to chrome tomorrow or Tues. and the upholstery gets started later in the week. Here's how it started out...
What engine you runnin' in that Adam? Stock six? Color is nice. What are the plans for the interior? How'd that Carson top come out? Got pics of it?
Hey man, Im a friend of the D.O.C [ dan deliverance ] guys, Hambone ,Nick and some of G.C, just though i'd say hey. The car looks great, that color is real nice..........................Real nice Lgh1157 XXX - for all you hambers out there, these are not kisses , trust me , im sure some of you know what it means.
MAN THAT LOOKS GOOD !!! Dark burnt orange is definately an in color. I vote for white on the interior. Give it that 50/50 bar feel. God I miss those things. F@%$ing tasty. Carson top? At least you can always take it off... Toppless is always better.. the car too
wow looks good! Question ? After you removed the roof did you have to do any bracing to the car? If so can you give some details? Thanks!
Yeah that is what I was gonna ask. When I cut the top off of my HT I had to put in the xmember off of a donor convert. The HT frame is just a ladder type. What did you use. Looks great, love the color and agree on the white interior. B B
Thanks for all the nice comments. The motor is a hopped up 235...dual carb/dual exhaust. The carson top is going slow. That will be the last thing I think. The interior will be white pearl with black carpet and piping. Hope to have it upholstered and close to finished by this time next month.
As for bracing...seems pretty sturdy but there is some under the rear package tray, ahead of the trunk.
Not braced? Park it with one wheel on the curb and see if you can open and close the doors. Looking damn fine BTW. Looking forward to seeing the carson top done.
the car looks gret man but you SERIOUSLY want to concider some extra bracing. the convertable frame trick is a good one. converts are designed to be sturdy with no top. the hardtops and sedans require the top as part of the structure, without it it is only a matter of time before the car starts to sag in the middle. you don't want all that work to go to waste. case in point. i had a friend that had a big ole Olds he cut the top off of. after driving it a couple months he could no longer open the doors, AT ALL! take a look at the frame and the bracing under the panels to either side of the back seat on a similar year convert and copy what the factory did there. it's the best and most certain way to keep yer car in the beautiful shape it is in now.
Shit man. Every time I turn around you have done something cool. Definately inspiring. I need to rob a bank so I can keep up.
[ QUOTE ] I need to rob a bank so I can keep up. [/ QUOTE ] hey pic one out and ill help so i can keep up mines taking me over a year and it still looks like shit
Man..Steve...I hope to get it home soon. I am going to tattoo in England and Italy, I leave next week and hope to come home with a bunch of money to get that home and all the chrome done on the '51. It waa good to see the coupe at the Cow Palace show, maybe we can trade Model A's for a week or so, haha. As for the bracing...there is bracing, maybe I didn't explain it clear enough. The taillights look pretty cool in the bumper guards too...have a pic of that soon. Look at the custom overspray on the exhaust tips...forgot to tape them off!
Hey Adam that'll look sweet next to the roadster when you pick it up. That color would look sweet on the roadster now that I think about it.
I think I am going a little darker on the roadster color...really dark brandywine-ish color. But I also really like a light champagne hue as well. Am I an alcoholic? Adam
