Here is one I did decades ago. 56 Ford Body found at a garage sale (back when you could). Kid had smeared glue all over the windows, brushed paint, missing parts, etc.. Mixed the kit with a 83 Nascar T-bird extras.
Took a while to dig out and dust off, I'll get some more cleaned up for future shows.

Here's a project I've been working on. It is about 1/3 to 1/2 way finished. I took several photos of it in progress from day 1 but lots all when I dumped my HD by accident.
Those photos only begin to tell the story of this Chevy so I will post more "In progress"
pictures as I get to it. (Hint: rust never sleeps.) It is currently in primer, ready for paint.

Tip I discovered & wanted to share. Old models that were destroyed by a kid and a brush can be saved. Dismantle carefully, being sure to remove chrome and window plastic. Get a big tub you can seal. Brake fluid is your friend. Let the model soak for about a week. Gently scrub with a tooth brush. Resoak if necessary. Rinse with water and dish soap. Plastic will have a slight etch to it but will be clean and ready for a new paint job. Use a plastic friendly primer. I've saved several old models this way. Don't know how it works on 80's plastic, but it works great on 60's & 70's plastic.

I haven't glued the wheels on yet as there is a lot of detailing to do. They are all over the place right now but will be addressed. This view is to show off the miss-matched Bel Aire trunk lid conversion. It will all make sense, including the drastic rake when I get it done, tho, I'm still debating whether or not to raise the front end.

Here's a glimpse at the ch***is. I will add a work in progress thread t the Plastic Model Builders group.

Great detailing and weathering. This has inspired me to dig out several unfinished kits & redo some others.

That white 61 turns my crank, man.. I love those things, and I'm a total Ford guy. Yep, I can see me in a 1:1 white `61 bubbletop, red n white gut, it would have to have a big block of some kind, if not a W, then a 396 or 427 and 4 gear...
My `61 kit has the 409 dual quad almost done, but not much else....

Here are a few I have built over the last year or so... haven't been on the bench in a while though. Been meaning to post on one of these threads, just never got around to it.

Here are my: '64 Thunderbolt Fairlane, '34 5-window, twin '31 A Woodies (one stock, one Rodded), '62 Catalina 421 SD and a '72 Datsun 240Z (built for my neighbor to replicate his real 240Z).

All are, of course, "works in progress"

    Enjoy!

THANKS! I'm thinking metallic blue with white roof and side spear in contrast to the red interior but white is tempting.

Thanks for the link, good coverage.

GREAT job on the pix and article.... SO many rodders got started building models. And so many great modelers continue to do so. Too bad the Goodguys / Street Sceene / other car shows with model contests don't cover them this well. The slide show was great, too.

I just may have to build something for next year's show! Later, Gary

That will look great! I had a couple "germ of wheat" lights laying around and figured I should work them in. It was originally supposed to have a working dome light as well, but it was left out of the Fairlane build....I will apply that one to one of the others though, maybe the Catalina.

  26. I have one of the old original Big Deuce models, and it came with the stuff to make the headlights and taillights work. Is that still part of the version they build today?
