I need to open the trunk on a 57 Ford Skyliner manually to inspect the area for rust and make sure most of the parts are intact before buying. The car has known issues with the relays so it must be opened manually. I did some searching online and can't find any specific info. Anyone here have any experience with Skyliners??
    Thanks in advance!

You have to hot wire each solinoid. They are behind the rear seat backrest. Seven of them if I remember right. Using a battery/jumper put ground on body and start touching the hot to a terminal on each solinoid. Each soinoid runs the screw jacks for each pair of screws. One terminal on each solinoid is forward and the other side is reverse. Find the one that loosens the deck lid, then the one that raises the lid. I believe that is the only way it can be done. There is no mechanical way. I used to know the sequence for all seven, but it was quite a few years ago. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info - will contact Jerry. The system appears to be similar to my 63 T-Bird's convertible operation. Separate convertible top operation and diagnostic manuals are available for the 63, I really hope I can get something similar for the Skyliner. Working on one of these without a manual is impossible.

    Thanks again.

if you want to manually open the trunk, without hotwiring, look under the car to the left and right of the rear bumper you will see 2 9/16" bolts about an inch apart, they hold the actuators to the floor, if you remove those bolts you can pull the trunk lid up by hand. Good luck
