I would like to hear anything anyone remembers about a woman who hung at Mitchells mid 1960's - drove a 'Vette with the slogan on the side: "If you beat me you can eat me!" Legend says that she never revealed what she was running, and that she was never beat.
I hung out at Mitchells mid to late 60's heard the "legend" but NEVER saw it and neither did anyone I knew, doesn't mean it wasn't true, I just never saw it.
I have heard of a story where a women in New Jersey during the mid 60's drove a Corvette that had some printing on the car that said something like your asking...I have never seen her or the car or where she lived/came from that was never said in the story...I often wondered if there was any truth to the story?...During the mid 60's as best as I can recall there was some street racing going on and the cops would come and throw gl*** bottles on the road so you could not race and I think that was in Brooklyn...Miller
The story is a FOF (Friend of a Friend said --- ) ... plus the cops never broke bottles to stop the racing .... the Brooklyn South Task Force would patrol the area around 1st Avenue where the racing was and when they went home at 2:00 they opened the hydrants to drench the avenue ... then everyone would drive back and forth over it until it dried off ... would take about an hour in the summer ... I raced there in the 60-s
Definite Urban Myth. There was supposed to be a car around here, with the same slogan on it. Driven by a chick street racer, never defeated, nobody know what was in it, blah,blah,blah. EVERYONE knew about this car, but nobody ever saw it. Ever.

It wasn't a Vette it was a Camaro. She would show up at Connecting Highway (( a street race location) She was real hot looking her father owned a junkyard and he & her brothers built (and re built) the car several times. It's not a legend I saw it. And the "track" was surrounded by an overp*** on each side for great spectator viewing. The Fire Dept would come around by order of the PD and hose the track down to stop the races. I have lots of memories & stories about that place. Pete
CHEVEEY 57: Are you sure of the time frame? I seem to recall 1964 ish. The Camaro first went on sale in Sept. '66. If so, you are probably the first and only person who can say that they actually saw this woman and her car. I was told the story, along with a couple of others, by a guy who said that he had seen the woman at MITCHELL's in Brooklyn, and as I recall, she definitely drove a 'Vette, and she wouldn't allow anyone to see under the hood. But, since you are the only source now, and you say that it was a Camaro, then a Camaro it was. Thanks a lot. Great times then. DMAN4EVER
I heard the story too, from a guy who moved here (Long Island) from Italy in the 70s, he claims he saw the car and told me it was a Vette also. I dont believe him though, he has been known to tell a few.
I remember Mitchell's, but I was only a little kid at the time. I'll ask my folks, but I suspect this is an "urban legend".
I remember it being a Camaro but she may have had a Vette too. I will ask my friend Pio who actually raced her in his '71 455 Stage1, 4 speed Convertible (hindsight being 20/20 I wish I bought that car from him) anyway his car was a beast and lost 5 bills to her so I'm guessing he'll remember.

This sounds a lot like the story about the old lady who advertised an old Chevy for sale and when you respond to the ad you find an old Vette hanging out in her garage and she only wants $300 for it. Pure urban legend.
The legend was talked about out on Long Island in the '70's. Supposedly she drove a '62 or so Vette. The lettering was rumored to be on the back of the car, that of course no one ever saw in the flesh. I think we should write it in for a Mythbusters episode and the hottie on the show can do the acting role. Bob
Ive had that ******** babbled in my ear while striping 2 diferent cars in two different states. Ther **** people say while youre pinstriping is worth recording. Jersey also has a legend about some fat slob in a cherry red GTO. It said,"The ." in huge letters on the front fender. That one is true.
