well definitely since you live one block from there :). i'm guessing by the "ACME SPEED SHOP" you will have a pretty good assessment.

this guy......i don't like him lol

thanks so much for that man! i wished i lived on the west coast just for their cars. east coast is horrible!!! well the main thing is the body and frame. engines can be had/fixed for cheap. the body/frame (rust, filler, paint) is where all my concern is essentially.

Hey, I cruised by after work tonight and the address was a small independant repair type shop but there was no Rivi to be seen. They did have a VW thing, a Bentley, a 56 F1 and a motor home but no Rivi anywhere I could find.

ok. Here's why I hate this type of post.

Now the guy who owns it has had probably 6 different guys come and look at it. Naturally he thinks interest is high so he may jack up the price on the New York guy.

With the amount of traffic we see here someone is liable to see the pictures and buy it out from under you.

I hope it all works out for you though... and I'm hoping to hear a great HAMB story including someone local storing it for you and you getting to meet some great West Coast hot rodders. :)

thanks so much man! from what i can tell it was an older paint job with some chips here and there that were touched up. the wheel wells as well as the rest of the body seem to be in good condition. the interior looks new. the doors look like they need to be worked pretty hard to get back into shape. the engine needs some work. the only thing that bothers me really is the rust on the rear trim, because i'm not sure if they covered up rust with headliner and so forth, and the fact that the car looks pretty damn good except the engine bay for the most part. that makes me think that there could be hidden bad maintenance issues hidden in the body work as well. i also noted the mirrors seem to be unpainted. LMAO AT "DECISIONS DECISIONS" at the end of your video. you're F$%#@!* RIGHT! i have to take all this into account and see if it's worth transporting back to the east coast.

maybe you guys could help me and tell me what you guys think this car is worth based of the information that hbwoody has so generously provided?

Well, not that eBay is the best gauge for car worth, but the guy was asking $12k and bidding only got to $4,300. This could be because the pictures and description in the auction were terrible(a major pet peeve of mine), and/or the market is soft. I do think $12k is a bit high, and $4,300 is low, and I don't know much about cars this new...maybe offer $6,500 and go from there? Wouldn't it be funny if the owner of the Riviera was following this post? He'd really have your number!

Looks like a solid car, but so did my '35 until I got the body back from the media blaster...OUCH! Please keep us posted...

hey guys after much self deliberation. i don't think the car is worth bringing out here. i would like to thank everyone involved for so graciously helping me and if there's anything i can help you with let me know. ALSO fwiw the guy was going to let the car go for $8500. just pretend you're me and you came out from the east coast ;)
