I want to see one of the 3 window coupes get built as a tail dragger. That's what I'd do if I had one.

There was a stock 3 window coupe at Bonneville last August. It was so cool to see what they actually looked like.

That's funny, I built a model of a '41 and a '33 Willys as sleds in the 80s just to be different.

G***ers were never built the way they were for the looks. They were built that way because thats the only way they knew to get weight and traction to the rear of the car. Now granted there are alto of trend followers building g***ers that have no idea what there doing and making a mockery of the history of drag racing and hot rodding. There is nothing cooler than a REAL g***er with REAL history its what hot rodding is all about, but to respond to the subject of the post,..I also saw the truck in bowling green and it was a BEAUTIFUL truck it was a sweet piece!

  13. Sorry, but I believe that '37-'41 Willys coupes and pickups were born to be g***ers. Then again, if they had never been used as g***ers, they wouldn't command the incredible prices they bring. They would just be another old car and there would be more of them around.

It's funny -- when you see one that has not been turned into a g***er, your initial reacion is to say "that looks so familiar, but what the heck is it???"!

There's also the white street-rodded '39 coupe that is an annual attendee and hangs out with the other Willys in the gravel lot.

I saw that at Bowling Green too. Not real fond of that logo on the door but it is a cool truck. Neat to see a Willys that isn't a drag car for a change....but I love g***ers and drag cars more.

There is a Red 39 Willys coupe here in the north east shows up at GG Rhinebeck occasionally belongs to a custom club. Lowerd with fender skirts looks odd to me and I know the car when it was all original back in 1964.

The entire BangShift.com crew was in love with this truck too. We couldn't stop looking at this one all weekend long. We'd drive it for sure.

I fully understand that. But there is no reason to perpetuate a bad AND ugly idea.

This one really turned my crank but no one else seemed to care enough to take a picture featuring it. Jalopyrama 2008 I love this truck!

Sweet truck, I'd love to own it. I'd put a blown Old's, set of mag. Halibrands, wide whites on pie cutter slicks, fenderwell headers and a straight axle.... oh you said NO g***ers...... Oh well to late already modified it in my head. :)

I saw that in a Bowling Green post and was stunned. What a beautiful presentation of a rare vehicle. That creamy color just amps the coolness factor as well, the old less is more factor. Thanx for the additional coverage of this beauty. ~Sololobo~

  27. They weren't all g***ers. The one I came home from the hospital in was just my old mans dailey. I don't really remember it but the pics my sis has has it sitting pretty much stock other than what the weight of the nail head dropped it.

Thay are a really nice looking truck and I always thought that one would be a slick parts chaser mild custom.

Tommy I had to look twice. I was just getting ready to tell you that its not a truck but it is a '56 Vic.

Then I saw the willys in the background.

YES there is, It keeps the history of drag racing alive and the history of hot rodding. It is an AWSOME thing that g***ers have come back big there is nothing cooler than watching all the old g***ers run down the track this IS HOT RODDING. Bowling green would not be the great show it is without g***ers. It would just be another show filled with 800 of the same street rods and 800 "rat rods" that look like circus cars and 2 or 300 muscle car guys polishing on there cars all day. Now how much fun would that be?!

Finally a tasteful execution on a beautiful truck. The stock Willys were really nice looking cars. here's another shot courtesy of Jr. Patrick.
