Just wondering if any of you have ever purchased a Kustom, and NOT touched a thing on it. I see guys selling some cool cars, and other guys posting pics of thier rides, then the opinions on what other guys would do to make it right in their opinion.

I was just wondering if any of you have purchased a Kustom and not done anything to it. IF you can, pease post some pics, and the story of how long you had it, if you still own it, and how you came across purchasing it, and why....

I've never bought ANYTHING I could leave alone!

If the car was historically significant, I guess I'd leave as it is or restore it to what it was.

Ha you're too funny. Johnny D just bought that Cadi from Frank DeRosa Jr. You see he was smart. He left it alone.

left most of them alone. I like to buy cars that are on the "well-done" list and then enjoy the artistic creativity of the builder.

not sure if that is possible.
I think most people here that would buy a custom car would change some things to make it their own somehow.

Ummm Nope, sorry but I'm googling him as I soon as I'm done typing this...

Really? What if it's painted a color you cant stand?.. I dont know about this one. You can enjoy the metal work, without liking the bumper or grill choices, the color, the choiceof interior or wheels.....

    Exactly!!

Frank DeRosa is one of very few kustom car builders who has been inducted into every Kustom car building Hall Of Fame there is by his peers. Not voted by the public but by his peers. Frank Jr is also a Hall of Fame builder and that Cadi was his personal car for many years. Both are out of Pittsburg Cali and you couldn't meet two nicer guys.

D'Agostino bought THIS DE ROSA Custom and the only thing he's changed is putting his name on it

    DeRosa Cadillac excuse me...

I agree about not getting too cute with a car Kustomized by a legend, but it would have to be exactly as how it was originally made. If not, like I've seen lots of Winfield cars in bad shape. I'd keep the major work, but I'd have to do some grill work, maybe bumper and definitely paint.. IMO

( By me, I mean get somebody to do the grill, bumper and paint )

Not to get off topic here but I almost fainted the first time I saw Jr's Cadi with D'Agostino's name on it at the Pomona Roadster Show, Something about that is just wrong to me.

The original builder of THE INVICTA was Manuel Arteche' of Woodland, California. Manuel died in 1999, I purchased the car in 2000.

It's always been treated with respect to honor all of the work & love that went into building it. I've preserved it just as it was originally crafted.

THE INVICTA is on display at Darryl Starbird's National Rod & Custom Car Hall Of Fame Museum. AND, if you'd like to visit the Tribute Page that I've set-up on my Hall Of Fame Legends WebSite you can not only read about the car, but you'll hear John D'Agostino, Jerry Weesner, and myself as we discuss our thoughts on Manuel, his life and his career. Manuel was a craftsman of the highest quality, and suffered terribly as this car was being built.

Here's the link that will take you there:
    http://www.legends.thewwbc.net/gpage117.html

THE INVICTA will NEVER be changed...it's a perfect piece of "Rolling Sculpture".

I'm not sure I would buy a car if I didn't want to change something about it. I could never be the keeper of a historically significant car. Thank God for folks such as you ^^^^ who have saved cars like the Invicta.
