Hey guys, check this out...found this for all you guys who want a cheap way to get wide whites... I think I'm going to try it myself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9d57F_8vDc
this video was created, and posted by bugman. good video, and this does work. i'd suggest you practace on junk tires, and have a light hand....oh, and dont mind reeking of burnt rubber! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124144&highlight=whitewalls check out the tech forum, lots 'o good stuff there.
yeah rubber goes everywhere...this has been covered quite a few times so any questions you may still have after the video im sure you can find using the search
I dont mind the smell of burnt rubber and a very cheap alternative. Its well worth the effort and you can take the hard earned cash and spend it elsewhere.
I figured that a lot of you veterans may have seen the video, but I guess it was more for the FNG's like myself. Anyway, awsome tech tip, I hope to try it soon...
i've seen alot of nice whitewalls made this way but you have to be careful cause there is black underneath that white and the outline "circle" is the hardest part...oh and wear a mask
80 and 120 grit flapper disks, a decent grinder, and a lite but steady hand. I did mine, they looked pretty good from 10-12 feet. Some older tire shops can cut WW's for you , call around and ask . If your like me, you'll get it right by the 4th tire.
