So I'm going to Cali sometime in the end of july beg of august and I am looking for cool stuff to do. I will be in LA for 2-3 days and San Francisco for 5 days for work. I have been lookin at socal car culture tryin to find some events that line up and I intend to hit gasoline gallery up but what else would you guys suggest? There is obviously tons to do in LA that I prolly won't have time for it all so the big question is what all is there to do in SF. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks!!!

I have seen many bumper stickers that read:"Keep Santa Cruz Weird". Might be a cool visit, in case you get homesick for Austin.

But, seriously, visit the Petersen and Nethercutt museums, for sure. Justice Bros and the NHRA have cool museums too.
Eat a French Dip at Phillippe's the Original in downtown LA. Pretty much unchanged since the forties.
Bob's Big Boy Broiler in Downey. Wed night is HAMBer friendly.
If you are out late in Hollywood or LA eat a hot dog at Pink's. OK hot dog, great people watching...
The Redwood Bar in LA. A vintage pirate themed joint from the forties that often books great music.
    There's a start.

well you have to have a tommys burger! its a must in california! very bad for your health, but oh soo yummy! check out the queen mary! san pedro, has a very cool fish market that cook the fresh fish you buy right there. im sure frisco has the same thing.

check out the uss victory in san pedro, the old fire boat while down here, and you can check out west coast choppers if you like. you could do all that in one day. its all really close to each other. i think while you are up north you have to stop at the montery bay aquarium! and check out cannery row! nepenthe resturant in big sur. hearst castle, pedras blacas light house, the point sur light house! cambria, man sooo much to do. look it up on line and plan it out! i hope you have a fun trip!

forgot to mention that if you had time you could check out the winchester mansion in san jose, ca.

July is a great time to be out there. June Gloom is over and you will have nice sunny days. Do you need a luggage carrier or a tour guide?

You should stop by Gene Winfield's shop in Mojave on your way down to LA.

Well the problem is they are few and far between and tend to be pretty expensive... I would love something a little cheaper. I did this once in vegas and rented:

    http://www.dreamcarrentals.com/cars-cadillac59.php

and it was one of the coolest things by far was hoping to find something similar to do cali in. As of yet this is the only option I have really found though:

Which is why I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas.....

  26. Rent-A-HAMB?

HAMB relay? Maybe you could deliver it to Long Beach to be exported?

Buy-A-Beater? Buy a cheap beater just to drive on the trip? Buy something you want or can resell, or one that someone in TX wants and drive it back?
