After 17 years I finally have another 59 El Camino

Congratulations on the ride.

There is a lady locally that has restored one to **** retentive condition that is gorgeous. Not really a HAMB practice but it is nice. The valve cover on the sixer has a plaid decal. She says it's original.

 

I've always loved those Elkys. Hope your wife loves you!

 

Awesome car, keep posting pictures as you build. I want one too, just have not found the right car for the right price yet.

As for the wife, try the old "oh, that car? it has been here for a long time" routine. Might work

Here she is with original 1966 Raders and 185/75/14 skinny whitewall tires. She is on her way to becoming a mild 60s custom and the de-mulletization she deserves.

Dig it Gator, I once had a 57 Chevy two door hardtop too, but I don't miss that car at all.

 

Really? Maybe 'cause it wasn't a high revin' '69 302 with a four speed and posi rear. Built in early 70's with ****on interior. And it is rough and worn old paint and old mag wheels. So I like my '57 ;-)I do not like powerglide 283 bubble gum ones really.

But a low Camino is hard to beat!

My 57 was a custom, shaved, nosed, decked with a 57 Buick grille, it had a 1970 LT1 'vette motor in it. It was a blast but damn near every show you go to there's a dozen of 'em.
