I was told I need to introduce myself before making a post. So, with my apology for not doing so first here goes with the introduction. I am a second generation hot rodder. My dad was a Technical Advisor for the Gaylord Modification Club formed in the 1950's in cooperation with NHRA, Arlington Police Department, and Police Chief Ott Cribbs. I still have the embroidered shirt. During my teenage years, I became a Charter Member of the Arlington Redliners Street Machine Club. Cruising Cooper Street was a big deal back then. We just regrouped for our 28th Reunion and have hopes of having a 30th. I have owned several vehicles through the years that I was very proud of. I graduated from a 69 Camaro Street Machine to a 23T Altered Roadster in 1985. A number of other cars followed including an 80 Corvette and a 74 GTO which I regret selling. For the past 12 years I have been modifying/restoring a 68 Camaro. It has provided hours of therapy for me. Currently, I'm building 225" Jr Fuel Nostalgia Dragster. Bob Boulton built it for me in 2009. Not only are cars my p***ion, it let me to a great career as the Fleet Coordinator for a municipality.
welcome. i am from arlington as well and i have an old car club plaque that says arlington police on the back. the front says charioteers, do you know anything about them
Nice to hear from a fellow Arlingtonian! Haven't heard of the Charioteers, but it's very cool you have the plaque. If it says Arlington Police on it, I figure it was around during the dawn of NHRA. It was all about safety and cooperation with the local police to get racing off the streets. Do you ever go to Albertson's at Little Road & I-20 on Friday nights. LOTS of cars there.
Welcome from South Arlington. Califorina and Bowen Rd. Have the Charioteers Plaque also. Also the Coupes of Arlington. Your invited to the Arlington Area Street Rods meetings on July first at the Dixie House on East Lancaster. 7:00 PM is a good time. Need more info PM me.
I have a photo of the Coupes plaque on our website ..... and hope to add a photo of the Charioteers plaque to the Arlington page soon.
Here is the plaque that jlj has ..... I'm sure the A.P.D. means Arlington Police Department but I'm not sure what the other symbols on the plaque are. Anyone know?
