In more than one instance I have been the one that blocked or unblocked or made these policies. I entirely believe in giving people enough rope to hang themselves as far as the internet goes. Those that are going to be unproductive will do so with or without the internet. It's that simple. And really a break here and there where you cruise a few sites can actually keep people sane and help their productivity.

I thought I felt the Internet get a little faster yesterday. :D

  5. I hear ya. Not meaning to make this personal by any means. No one here is advocating abuse but it is a two way street.

A lot of people who work for themselves forget that one of the big reasons they do is so they don't have to work for an ***hole... Then they end up becoming what they most despise.

The other thing is the type of job you have. I'm an estimator and am somewhat "specific task" oriented. My jobs have deadlines that I must meet.

Often when you close a HUGE job you've worked on for weeks at 3 PM your so stressed and wasted you're not going to start anything new due to your entire headspace not being there. It's not like production line where you get paid to screw things together for 8 hours...

I work for a very well managed company. They block most sites except ones that are business oriented. We just laugh because initially our OWN website was blocked under "Job Search"
Good employers want to surround themselves with good people. The owner of the company does not worry about me looking at stuff on the internet when he's on his way to the Bahamas on his private jet ( to look at the job I won for us down there BTW)

As other have stated abuse by few will always wreck it for the many. And as you stated some "hot shot productivity" guy was called in.

    Nuff said:cool:

Seems rude of them to expect you to work...All they do for you is pay your bills. (Yes, I`m a small business owner)

Hang in there Denise and try not to get too aggravated at those like the last post that is an employer but evidently doesn't have all the experience in the business world you do.

I was part of a very successful building crew that worked hard and took breaks when they made the most since. Then the company decided to get more EFFICIENT and scheduled breaks stopping work at inopportune times and forced us to take breaks when we didn't need them. Production dropped off and it wasn't because we were screwing with them. They said go back to what you were doing when things were best. Problem solved. Don't want you to lose anything to make a point, but I'd like to think things would be restored to you as appreciation for doing so well for them till now. Your best work comes when you are happiest. Hope they will see that.............

What do you sell? Your profile used to say you were an "Account Executive" at a cable company. Now it doesn't say anything. Just curious.

Doesn't it drive you nuts when people keep responding without reading your posts?

How many times do you have to say you are the top performer in your company making them more money than most or all others, and you are not working?

Sounds like your boss isn't the only one confused........

Sounds like your head got to big. You act like the H.A.M.B is going to stop running without you. You also say your the best sales person and can multi task. Big woop. You where hired to do a specific job. I dont think reading the H.A.M.B was in your contract when you where hired. My sister inlaw was fired from her job for chating online while working. Just be happy your still working.

I just think Ryan should make a HAMB iPhone app. That would solve this problem for a lot of people, :)
