So my ol' pal ADReese has this 1926-27 roadster body. Not wanted to redo all the work old owners have done, (firewall, subrails, etc) With pictures and carefully measuring the body we come up with a plan. I'll build him a new frame that fits the body. Didn't want to go real low with big Z's etc. I get a little nervous on 100% custom work over the phone. If everyone adds on a 1/4" here and a 1/4 there..ADR,me,bob,next thing you know you're 3/4" off.(but we didn't do that) Decided on a 6" kick in the rear and a 2" rise in the front (subtle) Trying to get it a very bolt together chassis, added vega steering mount, rear hairpin tabs. To get the motor just right, left off the motor mounts. But with the adjustable trans mount he will get it perfect easily. He's been working on it over the spring, and sent some pictures. I think it turned out great. Will attach thumbnails of body and then the roller (only way I know how to add pic's) Hope "ADReese" keeps me (us) informed of progress. eriC
Nice job on the frame. Looks great for a over the 'phone deal. Good looking body also. Hope owner keeps us updated. Earl
That thing has a very traditional stance. If the front comes down just a bit with the weight of the engine/trans it will be perfect. Frank
It looks perfect. Nice job everyone. That is going to be a great car. Any idea what will motivate it?
Wow! I don't know how I missed a thread with my own car in it. I can't say enough great things about working with Eric. He is a fantastic guy and his shop builds a really nice affordable frame. The kick in the rear fits between the subrails with about 1/4" on each side, its a thing of beauty. Eric also gave me 2" extra in the front so now I can do away with that scary firewall and stretch my legs out a little. The drive train is a 383 stroker dressed up like an early vette motor with a low rise weiand dual quad, polished vette valve covers, and all the goodies. The tranny is a th400 and the rear is a early bronco 9".
Eric, That is some good looking work on that frame That"T" sits just right. Has room for just about any hopped up V-8 mill. Looking forward to seeing it as a complete rod.
Not a whole lot of progress as of late. Mostly finishing up odd and ends on the chassis, brake pedal, panhards, etc. In a streak of impulsiveness I sold all of the sbc stuff and bought a 354 Chrysler hemi for it. Its at the machine shop now being reworked. Sure glad Eric put the extra couple of inches up front for me, I'm going to need every bit of space I can find.
