Connecticut-Fairfield County- Clubs???

Just wondering if there are any local (DANBURY_BETHEL_BROOKFIELD_NEWTOWN) area car clubs for "REAL HOT RODS"? I've just got bit by the bug and am in the process of my first rod, a t-roadster-pickup all done in a original vintage taste (no chrome here!!)

I've been around MUSCLE CARS and RACECARS all my life and now that I'm 36 years old....I've really fell in love with
these retro, rat (hate that name) rods. I'm so thankfull for finding this forum to help educate me!!!

So if there are any LOCAL clubs that are around for us "RETRO" guys...please send me in that direction, or if worse comes to worse...we will start our own!!!

Go to the Danbury race track and look for the crustiest geezers you can find in the pits. That track ran flathead powered cars well into the 1970's, maybe the last such track in the country, and some of those guys must still be around to supply wisdom to the modern world.
Clubs?? Maybe the "Greewich Lexii"?

 

bruce you havent been up that way in a few i guess... danburys been closed for at least 20 yrs or better.. as for clubs the ty rods and conn. street rods are real big and state wide

 

Go to the Road Agents show in Hartford and ask some questions, Of course if you end up with a bloody nose it was the wrong question. Just Kidding I think.

 

If there was a Hot Rod Club nearby I think I'd know about it by now. Lots of guys with cars that turn up at The Sycamore and Marcus Dairy cruse nites. Danbury Racearena was a great place to be on Saturday nites, it is now a Shopping Mall. Wish I had some of the 32-34 3 windows that ended their lives on that track! . The Dover Drag Strip Reunion in September is a good local event, and the Road Agents event is only an hour up the road.

Yeah, it's a while down the road yet, but go to Road Agents jalopy bash in Hartford to meet everyone of any consequence in New England!

Does anyone know what would be involved in starting a vintage rod club? Ive been thinking about it for a while-I wonder if it would be as simple as it sounds

The ol' RACEARENA shut down in the summer of 1981

They do have a yearly reunion in Danbury.

We all should get together and discuss a club or something!!!

I can learn a ton from everyone on here, but talking/working one-on-one with a bunch of guys, you just learn so much more!!!

Tommy, You should stop by the Sycamore on sat. nites in the summer. A bunch of us hang there every sat., 37kid & Tootall make apperances too. There's always someplace to go.
